looking for VC watches with day/date functions

I'm looking for all VC watches with day/date functions. New models or vintage.

Not perpetual calendar, as I don't actually need that at all. I'd rather by a "normal" calendar and something else :)

I know of the new bi-retrograde, the 250th anniversary watch (too expensive), and the not-in-production-anymore 31-day retrograde. I don't like the toledo, doesn't fit my wrist at all when I tried it on.

I tried all four watches above, kind of liked the 31-day retrograde, but maybe it lacks a bit of ooumph! It doesn't have in my mind a "long lasting classical style thing". The 250th anniversary watch was wonderful, but too expensive. The new bi-retrograde was gigantic (way too big for my wrist) - but maybe it can work in a "Nico special edition" at 38 or 40mm, although I wasn't ultra fond of the retrograde days of the week (looks too much like an old elevator scale).

Are there any more out there? In vintage calibers?

I love the malte sword hands, guilloche dials, malte lugs, tear drop lugs, etc...

Believe it or not, I am very flexible.

Other than the Toledo and the patrimony Bi-retrograde there are

currently no other day / date models in VC's collection. However there are some in recent or vintage pieces which could be of interest to you (non exhaustive)

Ref 47052: triple date and weeks

Ref 47050 -automatic

On the vintage front you have the following (other models with or without moonphase exist with different case and lug shapes)

Ref 4042

There is also the Perpetual Chrono and the Retrograde Date 245.

Thanks, very nice watches. I never tried on VCs with day/month openings before. I tried some Breguets, and found them kinda nice. But VC doesn't do new pieces like this I think. I like the 47052. Took me a while to realize that the week indicator actually also indicates the months :-)

The vintage 4240 seems strange: the lugs are yellow gold, but the watch is white gold (or steel)? Does this mean the case was re-done?

it was not unusual to find bi-color cases in vintage models and in

particular rose gold and steel which I find a lovely combination. here is an example of a similar model sold at the Quarter Millenium auction of 2005 sold for a breathtaking CHF 71,300 (approx US$ 58,500!!)

Interesting, you learn something new every day! thanks. (nt)
