Didn't even place a bid. If it goes too crazy from bid 3, then I wouldn't even do it...

Learned my lesson on a pocket watch minute repeater I bought 2-3 months ago (which will incidentally be serviced, starting after X-mas: the watch maker (old russian guy 70+ years old) said he doesn't want any other watch on his bench when does that one! :-)). I got crazy and bought it for almost double the low estimate, but it proves that someone else wanted it bad too!

The sound is great. Unfortunately I will never be able to afford the new VC repeaters which apparently sound divine!!

is the repeater you goot a VC? (nt)

no. It is not one of the "great brands". It is by Humbert-Ramuz. But the guy did get medals all over the place for his watches, from chronometry prize to gold medal at the Paris world fair. My watch is from around 1886 I think. I was lucky because the watch sounds good (I bought it without hearing it first, which is a bit of a no-no for repeaters).

To all: you should get a repeater watch. If you are like me and will never be able to afford a modern repeater wrist watch, then a vintage pocket watch is phenomal. Everyone should have a repeater.

Anyway, I haven't seen a single pocket watch VC repeater at auctions, unless I missed one.

Do you have pictures of it? (nt)
