Loungers' Monday - My turn :-)

Hi everyone,

I know you are all waiting for Alex's article but in the meantime I'd like to share my feelings about this book.

Loungers' Monday - My turn :-)

This is one of my favorites and I re-read it from time to time. It always gives me a smile. This is the real life story of George Dawson. He was born a few years after slavery officially ended in the States (his grand-father was a slave). And he just tells about his life, his philosophy of life and the choice he made of always look on the bright side of life (to stay with the Monty Python's reference of the day Loungers' Monday - My turn :-)).

This man is amazing (or rather was as he passed away a few years ago). And he always tried to get better and do noone any harm. He started learning how to read at age 98 and the book was written with the help of his teacher.

This is just a happy book, the kind that makes you smile, cry and find that life is definitely worth living. This is the picture of the French cover but they kept the original American title. So if you have some time (it reads easily and quite quickly), just go for it. Loungers' Monday - My turn :-)

Enjoy your day guys!
a book called "Life is so good" can only be a mood booster!

It looks like the kind of book I should be reading these days, the economy being what it is. Thanks for the suggestion, I will look it up... Cheers,  Francois

Thanks Tacha, between this book and Doc's post above...
