In love with the QDI

I got my first live look @ the QDI's last week and WOW!!! In love with the QDI  I was super-impressed.  I was on vacation in Venice and of course sought out the AD who had an impressive array: Date, Day-Date-Power Reserve, pink gold, paladium, titanium.  I liked the design, the heft (way it felt on the wrist), and that dial.....  Oh, that dial.....

Photos don't do justice how the unique etching and metal applications on the dial appear in daylight.  I've never seen watches like these before.  The titanium model, which I believe Duncan has raved about his purchase, is particularly intriguing with its dark appearance yet being incredibly light in weight.

My favorite?  The date model.  Why?  I can read it easily.  The day-date with the darker dial can be a little more of a challenge with my aging eyesight.  Which case?  I really like the pink gold with the light dial, although the titanium model is a close second.

I always thought a VC chronograph of some sort would be my next purchase (I wish a Historiques would drift my way).  But now, I find myself thinking, thinking, thinking about the QDI.

Check them out!!!  In love with the QDIIn love with the QDIIn love with the QDI  Nicholas

Work & personal matters have recently kept me from spending any time enjoying the Lounge.  For better or worse, you'll be hearing more from me now.  Nicholas

Water Resistance?
05/08/2009 - 19:06

I agree with your enthusiasm for this sporty new VC.  My only wish would be for an improvement in water resistance to allow more sporting use!  3 ATM is really for pampered dress watches .   The exciting design of the QdI, and the robust materials (titanium/paladium) that are available, really calls for a genuine 10 ATM "dive watch" standard.  This would still be less than the Overseas 15 ATM and should not conflict with that line.   But perhaps this is not possible with the QdI's transparent case?
