Malte Grande Classic: difference between 81000/000g-9107 and 8974

I was looking on the web for the prices of the Grande Classique in white gold, no diamonds. In some websites it is shown as 81000/000g-9107 (as it is on the VC catalogue they gave me in the shop) in some other the same picture (or so it seems to me) shows the code 81000/000g-8974. I would not be bothered if they were the same price, but the one with the code 8974 seems to be $2000 cheaper and I cannot understand how it is different.

Thanks for shading some light on this beautiful watch, which I can't wait to buy

is the dial as the 8974 had a circular guillochage pattern and the 9107 has a more basket weave pattern. The 8974 is no longer produced. There was no price difference when the dial was changed so I guess the difference you are seeing depends on the prices the different dalers are selling.

Good luck on your search and keep us posted.

IMO the original guilloche swirling pattern is more interesting.....

than the basket-weave pattern now used, and it still looks refined.  Check out this scan, & if you like it, why not get it for $2,000 less than the current model?:

Hi Nicholas, I agree, I also prefer the swirling. Let it be 8974 then! Thanks. The best prices I have seen are from websites. When I chose one, I may be back to check if the website is trustworthy.

Thanks

Angela

I also own this model of Grande Classique & love it!!!

If you ask about a specific web-dealer, the moderator will lock your message & not allow public replies, but he will usually suggest that people can respond to you privately by email.  You might think about sending an emai to Alex before posting such a request.  Good luck in your hunt!
