shape. Thanks for taking us on your Paris watch tour. Best, Tim
Great looking watch, I used to have one BUT

the fact that it did not have a column wheel drove me nuts and I sunsequently sold it
Medicus is kind of like a Barbie doll...

beautiful on the outside but leaves you disappointed when you take a closer look inside... talking about that movement straight out of Speedy
Berny, I love you as you know, but this time Radek is right!

I actually ordered a brand new one until I saw the movement. If V&C had at least have had a ordinary case back, than it would have been a hit, but who it was wanted to show this... which is inside my old, now my son's Speedy Moon from 1970.... It's a fantastic working movement, but ugly,  and inside is one plastic (!) piece.... Sorry...because the watch is one of the modern VC's that I, Doc, would really wear.. I think it's as design, see my post, is one of the best of Historiques ever Berny I have some scans I can send you about it, so mail me Doc

Besides the caliber which has nothing to do in a Vacheron (but which is still one of the best chronograph caliber for its finish at that price in the speed), this watch lacks of "finesse". Pushers are a bit gross. The design is far away from the 20/30 ancesters which sere incredibly fine. Even the dial is not at the VC standard imho. Still this cushion chronograph is something with a strong design. Bizarre.
VC's Ugly Sisters

The Medicus really had a "try-hard" mission when first released, as in trying hard to be more than it was.  The Lemania cam-driven chronograph has a very imprecise feel that is nothing like the silkyness of a column-wheel.  As if to compensate for being short on the inside, the dial throws every classic VC element at you in defiance.  Pulsations!  Chronographe!  Edition Limitee!  Sword hands!  Two registers!  The really innovative aspect of the watch was it's cushion shape that is unfortunately overwhelmed by the discord. I would nominate the Medicus calibre 1145 chronograph to the list of "ugly sister" VC movements which have a certain appeal of their own; industrial and basic like a rusty Volvo.  The 1014, another compromise movement and poor substitute for the calibres 1001/1002 it replaced, certainly deserves to be on that list as well as the bizarro 1096 automatic.
I'm with Alex, Doc and Radek... but the watch does look really good!
