Meeting another HL member. What a small world!

A local AD was hosting a holiday celebration tonight. Although I have yet to buy anything from them, I was invited, and I happily attended. While taking a break from chatting with the representatives from the various brands present tonight, I happened to overhear a group talking about Vacheron this, Vacheron that. After a while, I decided to introduce myself and join them. Not surprisingly, one of them owns a VC. Surprisingly, he told me about how he posted on a VC forum about his experience with a watch that was running too fast that was shipped back to VC for service. It is a post (by Kursman) that I remember well since I had read it with great interest before taking the plunge in order to get a feel for what VC service is like, what my local AD is like, and, in particular, whether my salesperson (also Kursman's contact person) was someone who I would want to deal with. It was a pleasure to converse with him and some of his friends for part of the night. I hope there will be chances to meet some of the other members of this forum in the future.

As a side note, I happened to win a raffle for a 6 watch box tonight. I only have two watches: my daily wearer VC, and an Omega Seamaster 300m (former daily wearer). I figure I need seven in order to fill the box. (One on my wrist, six in the box.) Some shopping may be called for!
that's great! really like a club :-) I need to organise more HL

I was so glad to meet you on friday and other loungers. (Hi small luxury world ) And the opportunity to bother Mr Selmoni was a great great moment The organisation was perfect, and seeing the honesty of the company showed which kind of company it was, a great one. Not overwhelmed by too much marketing, focussing on product and quality. Will you make a small report? cheers Francois

Q
What's next

It's not a winder, just a nice box courtesy of Tutima. As for what next, I've read Secrets of VC (my copy is now on loan to my contact at the AD), and am now reading World of VC. Those books have opened my eyes a bit to the rich history of the company and influenced my choice for what next. Rather than a Patrimony Ultra Thin (33093), I think I would prefer a coin watch for my caliber 1003 watch. And seeing how much VC has experimented with alternative methods of reading time, the Mercator is now high on my wish list. An Overseas chronograph remains a real possibility. I hope and expect that there will be an occasion worth commemorating in 2011 that will justify another VC purchase.
an eclectic choice! nt

Jason, it was a supreme pleasure meeting you last saturday at my AD in La Jolla, CA. I admire your keen memory and attention to details as you recanted my story about my superb VC service on my Overseas Chrono. I know that I passed some of my luck onto to you as we both won watch cases in the raffle that evening. Am looking forward to seeing you at the next event in December where many more Vacheron watches will be on display. This may be the perfect time for you to add to your collection:)). Kind regards, Matt

Yes, I need to bug Liz for an invitation to the December event! I'll need to wait until mid-2011 or so for my next VC, but it wouldn't hurt to start picking it out. And the event should be a good opportunity to buy a watch for my friend's wedding present. I look forward to seeing you there!
