model:4961 caliber: 1003

Hello everyone, this is my first post, glad to be here.

I have just aquired a 4961 from the '50's - my first VC.

The watch is in great condition and I have managed to source a strap and buckle, which were missing. To bring it up to 'original' condition I would like to find a vintage box. Can anyone tell me what the original box would have looked like? Maybe a picture too?

Many thanks for your time.

Regards, Russell

email the link to Russel.

On the other hand the boxes for sale are from the 80s-90s so are not period correct for this watch

Whoops....

Sorry Alex....I didn't know that rule.

vintage V&C boxes

With wrist watches, it seems that brown boxes often represent the 1940s-50s period and the maroon from the 1950s-60s.  With pockets, the maroon color was a V&C trademark from the turn of the 20th century.  Before that, they were of wood construction.

Wow - so many!

I suspected it was of the brown/maroon variety.

When it was purchased would the buyer be offered a selection of cases as standard? Or was that an 'extra'?

I notice some come with soft leather wallets, is that standard?

Love the small square leather box near the centre.

PS - I bought a black leather strap. Black face, black strap, gold case - perfect :)

The wallets were standard in the 80s or 90s I believe

They are great for travel, I sought them out for awhile and now use them regularly. They work really well for both pocket and wrist watches.
