I got the pleasure of examining this watch and its fascinating metal combination the other day--apologies, had no camera or even a phone. I was pretty moved by this watch. It's one of the cooler more modern pieces of work coming out of the conservative Swiss world these days (I think of VC as a conservative brand with avant garde designs, depending...) and I went home obsessed with the piece. Should I buy it??? Or is this 'only' a great, amazing novelty, marketed masterfully, etc, etc... The bluish tantalum CROWN alone is almost enough to send you over the edge. I could marvel at that for a lifetime, on and off... I have to say I'm not 100% sold on the palladium for the case, which essentially results in the look of palladium lugs, mainly--from the top view, anyway. I almost wished it was entirely tantalum, but then noooooo. The combination does have visual merits, and is at the height of avante garde 'ingredients' as of today... The domed crystal: heaven. Love it. the dark gray dial with new darker gray hands: love it. The Idea of the QDL, it's brave design, it's bloodline: love it.
It's not a cheap watch, though is it? :)
A few years ago, I'd already be wearing it, but I am more 'ma-tour' these days... novelties have worn off in a matter of days... OFTEN!
This one is very special. So I put it tou, gents, true connoisseurs of VC.
Is this watch a mere novelty done at the highest level--or is this a watch that sticks with you. grpws more meaningful, not less.
I could go on...
Maybe we'll get lucky and have some pics added to this thread, as I stillhave no idea how to post pics on this great site--I am on a Mac, and I think Alex said Macs can't post pics here?
Many thanks, and looking forward to the topic at hand.
