My first Vacheron Chronograph - 49003 Les Complications Collection

Hello All,

I am first time owner of a Vacheron - hence I am here.  Just wanted to introduce myself.   I have purchased Vacheron chronograph - 49003 Les Complications Collection with all the paperwork, books for a dealer in Zurich.   It is in mint condition.

Question:  modular system Vs  integrated , can someone please shine some light on it, much appreciated.

kindest regards,

~MJ

Hi Alex... thanks much.

I did manage to get all the paperwork, books, original strap... however, I didn't get the box :(

Just wanted to know everone's thoughts on this time piece!

cheers,

~MJ

An exception perhaps?

Hi Steve, welcome to THL from my side also.

Your question could take a very long time to be illustrated, being the topic engaging, technically speaking. I would add the semi-integrated option to your list. I leave the rest up to your researches, just to make things more interesting to you cheeky

Alex, I always thought ref. 47001 hosted a cal. 889 (VC 1126) plus DD module. Would it be an exception or have I simply missed a chance to remain in silence? laugh

I stand corrected

You are right, I went back and checked my article on VC Chronograpgs and ref 47001 is modular!

Steve, congratulations. Lovely piece.A truly beautiful and rare VC. Does it

have a Transparent caseback?

Also, Alex, is this a F. Piguet movement?

Cal. 1136 is based on the F-P cal. 11.90
02/11/2015 - 11:33

It is a 3-register chronograph.

The Cal. 1137 chronograph mivement used in the OS is based on thr F-P cal 11.85.  This is a 2-register chronograph movement.

Although F-P cal 11.85 and 11.90 are close in their numbering sequence, I do not know how similar there base designs are (besides the 2 vs. 3 register difference).

Isn't it the same calibre

with slight differences?

I've no knowledge of FP cal 1190, maybe VC 1190 that is FP 9.51? That is time-only though.

Dan please, don't leave me with this dilemma pending :-)

My mistake, you are correct

I keep a database for my personal use and it listed an F-P cal 11.90 as the ebauche for VC's cal. 1136.  But searching for mor info, I can find nothing about an F-P cal. 11.90.

looking at more pictures and description of the Cal. 1136, I would agree with you that it is based on the F-P cal. 11.85 as you stated.  My apologies for any confusion I have caused.

From Alex's Article on VC Chronographs, Part 2:

http://www.thehourlounge.com/en/vacheron-constantin-articles/history-vacheron-constantin-wrist-chronographs-part-2-1970-2009-570442

Ref. 49002 was made in approx. 700 pieces in gold and 130 pieces in platinum

Also, Ref. 47001 used a cal. 1126 with a chrono module developed with Dubois Depraz

I get myself in trouble when working off an Ipad

As I posted before finishing.  From the same Chrono Article mentioned above:

Ref. 49003 was made between 1990-2002, total of approx. 750 pieces.  And it says here VC Cal. 1136 is based on F-P cal 1185.

Actually,

I was hoping I was wrong, so I could have learnt something new cheeky

Thanks Dan for the extra info, always precious and much appreciated.

I take this chance to thank you for the terrific effort  (yours and Alex') which makes this forum so special to me yes

You are very welcome! Thank you!

I learn a lot from you (especially about chronographs) and all the other Loungers...our group seems to always be willing to share info/experiences, and I love that characteristic among Vacheronistas!  BR, Dan

Hi MJ, Welcome to THL! What a nice watch to enter the world of VC!

But be warned...as so many here can attest to:  it is very difficult to stop at just one VC :-)

We are all waiting for a wrist shot when you have the opportunity.

Best Regards, Dan

You picked a great piece.  Welcome to the Lounge, happy to have you here.  I love the dial on that watch, the texture is beautiful.  Wear it in good health and enjoy the Vacheron journey - there is a lot to learn and a lot of fun to be had along the way.
