Hey Doc, you really enjoy taking pictures!  I'm so glad we can share our favorite moments and places .  Here are a picture from my window after a thunderstorm...
What a view!!

It  looks like Seattle but that would be the wrong country! Could it be Ottawa where I also stayed for a week some 20 years ago, no I can't be...Montreal? wherer I just changed plane? I lived in a  two tower hotel in Seattle. And in Ottawa I don't rember which hotel, but the town definitely had the English thouch, what amazed me most, were that I just stepped on a bus and it went to the the limit of the town and it actually was like someone drawn a line. Here is Ottawa's border Thanks for a very nice pic Mats
WOW......gorgeous Doc.................

I love looking at pictures of people's homes and surroundings....and yours are extra special.  Nothing like the sea!  Here are a few of mine taken in late summer of an English Conservatory we added to the house 15 years ago and some additonal work we did about 7 years ago: From the inside: A library we added: Front door: The House --75 years old: Best Regards, Tom

Let me guess Tom,

could this be in Connecticut? I stayed in a town called Southbury at a collegaue some 20 years ago! Fantastic place you have, and I like, as you to 'convert', an old house piece for piece! Love those windows which I suppose the glass pieces, are lead to each other as I have some in this old house. Our house is 'only' 65 years old, which my father let build during WW II. My family have now been living here for 30 years. But I also have several other houses on the estate and all have roofs... Here to the left you can see one of our leaded windows, yep, the cocktail cabinet Two years ago I made a library of my kids rooms, they have flewn out of the nest, here you can see a part of it ! Rebuilding old houses is the real sport, collecting watches are cheap, if you compare Thanks for sharing your marvellous home with us Cheers Doc
Nope....close though................

New Jersey!  That picture of the front of your home is lovely and I do love the window with the two leather couches....it looks like a place you could curl up with a drink (and a wife???) and spend hours! We've done leaded/stained glass everywhere.  We found an artist when we moved here 20 years ago and he's done just about the entire house in leaded windows over the last two decades one piece at a time just like we did the house.  Here are a few more shots of his work.  Oddly enough he used to be an actor in the 60s and he was up for Al Pacino'sd part in the Godfather but diodn't get it....thankl God! What used to be an old screened porch Laundry room Great room with all leaded and beveled glass All the Best, Tom
Impressive Great Room... and the window makes your laundry room the
10/24/2009 - 01:55
most amazing laundry room I've ever seen! Cheers, Francois
Thanks Francois!!
10/24/2009 - 07:23
it's a hoot.  The reason we did it is to match the bathroom window which is in the room next door....we couldn't just do one because it wouild have looked unbalanced. Here's a faux painting (trompe l'oeil) of a clothes line in that room too: Best regards, Tom
Been some Swedes in that shirt? :-) nt

hmmm...

I like the idea of the faux painting, I love the sport you've chosen, but... ...as a loyal supporter of "La Sainte Flanelle", I do have a bit of problem with the team you've chosen. So, you're in NJ and you're supporting a NYC team? Doc, you are right, quite a few Swedes wore the Rangers' jersey, but none of them come close to "Le Petit Viking", Mats Naslund, no 26 with the Montreal Canadiens in the 80s. Cheers, Francois
You're right Francois................
10/26/2009 - 01:32
he was quite a hockey player.   As for supporting a NY Team instead of the NJ Devils......well when I was a kid and my father took me to the old Madison Square Garden to watch Hockey games there were no NJ Devils.....only 6 Teams and only local one was the "incomparable" NY Rangers!!!That was in the late 1950s Francois.,...where did all of those years go??? best regards, Tom
valid response! :-)
10/26/2009 - 01:51
If you started to root for the Rangers in the late 1950s, then you must have been VERY, VERY happy in 1994! I'm surprised that your painted shirt doesn't have no 11 on its sleeves
I worked in NYC at the time.................
10/26/2009 - 02:45
prior to starting my business and well before any VC graced my wrist.  I saw the parade and it was awesome!!  I should have told her to paint in number 11.......my mistake!  Maybe she can put it in now....retroactively????? Tom
You are hard to beat Tom, but
10/24/2009 - 02:52
do you have an  Island? You really have amagnificent house and belive it or not, when my wife and I moved out here 30 years ago we throw so many beautiful windows, you would kill me, worst of all still each and every month it hurts, we throw a Art Deco ceiling lamp, that was so magnificent. For the 10 years we searched for one alike, still haven't found...  Some pics from the guest house! And the door to the sauna from the shower.. It's a small guest house but still on one of the few ones on the islands in this big inland sea and we have had have guests staying over at -20°, comfortably But of course Swedish summer is the best part of the year This is really getting to be a competition, wait until I open the garage , just kidding but I think in our 'small' V&C family, it's charming to give something of your personal life, not just watches! Carpe Diem Doc
No island Doc..................
10/24/2009 - 04:22

You have me there.  Man that guest house is sweet!  When they say location! location! location! ...you took them literally! I can't believe you dumped all of those windows though....my God.......I bet they were just lovely.

It is fun to share some other things besides watches Doc...thanks for the peek and the smiles!

Best regards,

Tom

Doc, your elegant library motivated me to "finally" (as my wife says) tidy up our modest bookshelves.  At least the V&C section is near completion now that I've added a copy of Augenweide Amrbanduhr Vacheron Constantin.
That's so far THE BOOK :-)
10/24/2009 - 21:35
It's fantastic and you get 'forced' to learn German A part of my Vacheron&Constantin corner for you Dean Cheers Mats
Cars too!

Well, Doc, Your place looks most comfortable and peaceful. With  a lovely family, Winston and Pompe plus beautiful views of the sea you really couldn't ask for more. Any chance of arranging a "Lounge" convention at your place - we couldn't stay long.........perhaps a couple of weeksat most!!!! I've got my suitacse out of the cupboard in readiness. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for keeping us all in good spirits. Much appreciated. Warmest regards, Tony
Gentlemen you live in palaces! I live in an apartment with a view

it's hard to top that! Tom
Oh - My - God!!!
10/24/2009 - 01:45
It's just hit me in the face, and I don't know how come I didn't realize this before... ...Alex, you are the Male, French-speaking & European version of Carrie Bradshaw!!!!!! For all you non-metrosexual Loungers who don't know what I'm talking about, Carrie Bradshaw is the main character in the program Sex in the City, and she is famous for living in a crummy NYC appartment, but spending $2,000 per week on shoes... For more info, ask your wife/girlfriend. (...and yes, I did watch - and enjoy - the show). Alex, I'm not implying that you live in a crummy apprtment... only that you might be able to get a mansion for your fantastic watch collection! And despair not, my friend... At the end of the movie, Carrie ends up in a beautiful penthouse appartment, and she's got her own walk-in closet for all her shoes Wouldn't it be great, having a walk-in closet to put all your VCs? Cheers, Francois
I do HAVE a walking closet for my shoes :-) nt
