Hi Stew

and welcome to the Lounge! The pictured dial does not look familiar, but it has some of 'the right' indicators of a proper VC dial - although I am not too sure about the design itself or the hands. Maybe if you can post some pics of the caseback and movement we can be of more help and give you a more accurate response. Best, Walid

Forgive me

but to paraphrase Shady Joe and Alex, with enough experience of the brand you'll know a fake when you see one.  Just to show that I'm not intending to offend just our lady THL'ers...here is another fake:photo Getty Images

Thanks for all your help guys, like isaid I know nothing about watches lol.. Anyway took the watch down London to get it valued and it got valued at £26,560 , was shocked. Have now insured it :-D
Interesting turn of events
06/27/2012 - 03:27
They valued it without a certificate of authenticity... and the insurance accepted the valuation? I admit I am quite surprised, but if experts at your end say its authentic who am I to argue with them. Sorry couldn't be of much help! Best, Walid
I'm not picking on you but seriously? C'mon no one who knows
06/27/2012 - 14:23
anything on watches and who actually held the watch in his/her hands could possibly think it could be anything other than a fake!

OK gotta be real. Your right and all these experts are wrong. No sense sending it to a "real Bias" company like VC. Now look time is running out. Get this on e-bay today. I will bid $50,000,then we let the other suckers play with that bid. Keep the photos and sell it on another site in a couple of months. Hey well do ok. since you knew this was crap when you posted it hoping someone give you appraisal vaule.
What a load of crap

Even if it were a genuine VC, which it is not, the value of a time only piece of that size would be about 1/10 of that number.   For the right price and/or with a sufficiently ignorant appraiser, I could get my shoes appraised for $100K, but that does not make them worth $100K, and if I tried to sell or make an insurance claim based on that appraisal, it would be considered fraud.  Not sure about the UK, but here in the US, we put people in jail for fraud. I assume any insurance company can take care of itself, but if I see this watch for sale on line, I will go out of my way to notify the marketplace operator of the deception.
