Need your advice...

Give me reason to keep this watch. I have been thinking about making a Christmas/40th birthday out of this watch...

I know for sure it is a rare Patrimony Les Complications Power Reserve model that has allegedly been made only in 200 pieces in this color combination. I bought it brand new (NOS - new old stock) early this year. It was my third VC. I have worn it just a few times and have already made up my mind to present it to my brother. I am having second thoughts about it... The only reason to give it away being that it is a bit small (diameter 36 mm) and I like rather large watches... On the other hand... I don't know, please help!

I used to own one in WG but sold it because I was having trouble reading the numbers.

At forty your near vision can only go one way.

Its a gorgeous watch and if your eyesight is still good, keep it.

First of all, what a lucky brother you have...

If you are having second thoughts, it might be wise to consider whether your brother would appreciate such a watch.  Is he a VC fan or a WIS too?  Maybe he likes larger watches too?  There is nothing better than gettin something that you really like, so trading it in for something that your brother would really want may also be an option (if you are not really into the watch anymore..).

Hope this helps.  Good luck.

I believe it is a very beautifull watch and very different from the Malte DTR or the Toledo 1952. I like biger watches also but when you dress up I think that 36mm looks much better. If you give it to your brother anyway at least it will stay in the family.

If I were you

I would give it to my brother (if he likes and appreciates it) or trade it for an other VC (and give it to my brother). I am not a huge fan of black and white dial

Correct me if I'm wrong but

when you gave your Toledo for the Malte DTR after a while you came back whith an even better Toledo. :-)

So what do you say George? Give it to my brother and it stays in the family and then come back with another even better Patrimony model (or VC)?

I would give it to...
11/21/2007 - 11:18

your brother because:

- there is nothing more personal than a wrist watch and giving it to your brother is a true gesture of love, I really like the symbolic of it (if he is interested in watches and likes this model that is)

- in just a year you have worn it only a few times so basically you don't like it THAT much so maybe your brother will enjot it more than you

- by recieving it your brother will become a Vacheronista and you can sign him up on The Lounge

- it will leave an empty space in your watch storage box for another VC you REALLY like!

Though one...

On one hand, this watch is really beautiful - I adore the combination of hours markers and the hands, it looks very sporty and reminiscent of the 47112 (I'm sure Deniz will loooove these!). I had never this model before, and I really like it!!

On the other hand, Alex is making some pretty convincing arguments... and since it is Christmas and the time for giving, I would say make your brother happy!!

Thank you guys for all your suggestions, I made up my mind and...
11/22/2007 - 11:52

will give this watch as a Christmas/40th birthday gift to my brother...

your brother is lucky to have you as a brother :-) That's a very nice

As some say in England...
11/22/2007 - 19:06

...Sir, you are a true Scholar and a Gentleman!

Seriously, I am very happy to hear that - your brother is going to have the best Christmas!

Finally, what did you decide?
