New HL Member

Dear All,

At last I have signed up to the HL.  I have been an avid follower of the site over the last couple of years.  It is of great enjoyment to read the the articles and look at the fantastic photos.  I have always been interested and passionate about watches, obviously VC, which lead me to get a Royal Eagle a few years ago.  Rarely a day goes by that I do not look at watches.  Then to covet the day, when I've put enough away and last but not least; convinced my other half that I really need "this one".  I am not a watch expert regarding technical issues and would not come close to the information and details that are in the articles produced by many of you, but I hope that my participation will be of some merit in the years to come.

Again, the forum is a great place to indulge ones hobbies and I appreciate the opportunity to join.

You're more than welcome here, Steve - it's great place to be! (nt)

Dan, Attached the photos of my Royal Eagle.  I first saw it in 2006 on hols and a year later eventually got it.  It is the only watch that gets comments from "non watch" people.  I only have one dislike  The strap is larger at the lugs and narrows as it gets to the clasp.  For the size of the watch and the weight, it is too narrow.  My preference would be to have the same width throughout as at the lugs.  All in all, it still does not take awy from its beauty. I have the same issue as some of you guys, the hairy wrist.  Like Doc mentioned a while ago, my wrist is not the biggest so I am limited to what I can wear but I don't think its too big. Cheers Steve PS I hope the photos uploaded correctly as I cant see them on the page, a red X and blank box is all I can see.  If not I made need some advice!

Apologies, it did not show the photos.  Is it the photo is a Jpeg?  Its not the size (4.5Mb each) as it won't show a small size (46Kb) either.  Is it the URL info, I put in the name of the photo I have saved it under?  Many thanks in advance for any help.  Cheers Steve

Hi Steve, I sometimes have problems directly uploading pictures
02/24/2011 - 14:49
as well.  When that happens, I need to use a photo hosting site (such as FotoTime) and create a URL to post pictures.  I don't know why this happens. Best Regards, Dan

Hi Steve, I can follow the link see that very NICE chrongraph, .   I have an OS Chrono that utilizes the same movement.  I believe there is a way to upload the http link so that the picture itself will show up in the post, not just the link itself.  If you 1. select the "Insert/Edit Image" icon and 2. select the second tab, "link", 3. copy/paste the http link into the URL space, it should work (fingers crossed) Best Regards, Dan

Steve welcome. I love the dial of your royal eagle.
Would you consider getting a different strap?
02/24/2011 - 14:52
Hi Steve, Would buying an after-market strap that could be the same with from lugs to buckle make any sense for you?  I know it can get expensive if you buy an additional VC buckle a the larger size to fit on the strap. Best Regards, Dan

Dan, With hindsight I should have done this.  Knowing that leather can easily be damaged and in case VC stopped producing that strap in the future, I bought another strap.  I only wear the watch at weekends, as in my day to day job it would get too damaged.  Therefore, I will have to live with the dislike until both straps wear out, a long wait! Thanks again for the help with the photos, looks like any I will post in the future will be a link rather than an upload. Cheers Steve
welcome Steve

How did the Royal Eagle get it's name?
02/24/2011 - 17:26
Firstly, WELCOME .  For you Royal Eagle did this distinctive model get such an impressive name?
there's no story or reason behind the name. The folks at VC just
