New to the hour lounge,Greetings from San Diego

Greetings from San Diego,  I am new to your forum.  I just ordered a new overseas model (grey strap with titanium bezel).  I pick it up on monday.  I was always a rolex and IWC fan, but now I think it time to switch to Vacheron Constantin.  I still like my gmt and aquatimer, but I don't think they can match the quality of the VC.  I enjoyed reading a lot of your posts.  I hope I can add some of my own in the future, only time will tell.  Oh, one last note.  I was in a large watch store(where I spend most of my time) the other day and noticed a small clamshell watch case in the back corner of a display case.  Much to my surprise when I opened it was an old Patrimony model.  There were just hands and hour markers.  The back looked like a pop off back.  On the inside it said Vacheron Constantin, 18K.  It als appeared to be a wind up model from the 1950's or early 60's.  The shop owner wanted $3500.  Is that a fair price.  Thanks, Jim

the OS. 3500 for a vintage VC could seem like a good price but can you obtain the ref n° from the deqler?

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum. As one with many watch friends :)) I kinda know the AD you were visiting. I too am an IWC and Rolex guy who has joined the ranks with my first VC - an Overseas Chrono. Really enjoy my watch and the quality of its movement and finish. Best of luck with your new Overseas. Best wishes, Matt
Welcome to the Lounge Jim!

The new OS with titanium and strap is on my top 3 list of watches to get (I'm not sure if I prefer the chrono or the dual time version...), congrats on such a great purchase! Like everyone else, I'm very interested in seeing some pictures once you've picked up the watch! Cheers,  Francois

Greetings to all,  went the watch store to pay for and pick up the watch, only to find out that the watch has been back ordered.  The  sales clerk says it could be up to three weeks.  So now I guess I will just have to wait and be patient.  So in the meantime I guess I'll just wear the rolex.  Bye for now
