New Purchase - 1st VC!!!

Hi guys,
Further to my recent post I have just purchased my first VC.
http://www.thehourlounge.com/thread/view/is-this-watch-fake_75118_75118.html
Very exciting.......
It is currently in transit between the USA and Australia.
As soon as I receive it I will get it checked out then send it to VC to be refurbished.
I am interested in knowing if the dial and hands are original if anyone knows?
and also if I should pay for a certificate from VC that states that the watch is original?
Thanks
Hamish

I'm glad you won the auction, but as you may have seen from other Loungers....it is impossible to stop at just one! heart It is a beautiful watch and these triple dates are iconic VCs in my opinion.  yes Best Regards, Dan
Congratulations, I would suggest however

wearing a bit before sending to VC as servicing may take some time :-) I can't see from the photos if the dial was refurbished or not
Congratulations Hamish!

It's a beauty for sure! Great choice. You should get a certificate but Alex says, not right away. Enjoy it in good health. Joseph
Congratulations!

I'm sure you will be thrilled with the finish of the movement. You might find this link interesting. The article is written by SteveG ( brilliant photos).   http://ninanet.net/watches/others12/Mediums/mjlc125.html   A true classic in the field of showing the difference between the finish from Jaeger LeCoultre and V&C.   Yours sincerely Kent

Hi Hamish! Welcome to the Lounge and congrats on your vintage V&C...very nice choice! It is good to see another watch enthusiast from Down Under!  I am across the ditch in Kiwiland. I agree with Alex....wear your watch first for a while, as servicing for vintage pieces can take 3-6 months - they are sent all the way to Switzerland! Best wishes and look forward to some more pics! Cheers mate! JAMES

Well my watch arrived and it has exceeded my expectations. It is very beautiful and I was immediately struck by the craftsmanship, the finish and how subtle it looks. I already prefer it to my calatrava. Size while small at 35 suits the watch and I actually prefer the size to another 42mm watch that I had been thinking about purchasing. This is a big statement for me as my daily watch is an AP ROO and initially I was concerned about the size but no more. In fact I think I will now focus 100% of my attention on vintage VC as I feel like I have been bitten by a bug. The buckle is not original so I will have to try to get one but I think it will be difficult to obtain. After about 30m of playing with the watch I took it to a VC service centre to organise for it to be serviced (I know everyone said keep it for a while but I am a little ADD) I was a little surprised when the watchmaker in charge advised me that she thought the crown was not original because it did not have the Maltese cross on it (I am not sure that this is correct but time will tell) but she did confirm that the case and movement numbers matched the ad. The Cal is 485 a. So now I have to wait four weeks to get a quote and see what is required. Summary - wonderful watch, new passion and very happy to be part of this wonderful community.

Try to look at this post from the one and only Alex Ghotbi regarding crowns. http://www.thehourlounge.com/index.php?module=Thread&action=viewEntire&threadid=2002   Cheers kent
