A NEW VACHERON to keep the others company.

As indicated in a previous post, I just acquired a new Vacheron World Time, and it's a beauty.
Here are some photos. I may have gone a bit overboard with the number. Oh well!
Enjoy!
Joseph

When I was looking at the Vacheron WT, I was also considering the Lange Dual Time.
I just could not make up my mind!
So I got both! :-)

Really beautiful photos, Joseph
08/07/2013 - 18:57
If anything, however, there are too few photos.  There is no wrist shot.   ;-) These photos are making me fall in love with the WT all over gain.  This is such a romantic complication.  There is so much to love about the PT WT, and technically, it is the best world timer there is, IMHO.  I understand the critiques of this WT.  The dial is busy, but most world timers have busy dials -- this is the nature of a world time watch that lists all of the cities/timezones on the dial. The watch is big in diameter and thickness.  I guess, even I wish the watch were a little thinner and smaller, but the proportions overall seem about right. The technical achievements and the gorgeous case design outweigh this criticism for me. The Lange is also a beautiful addition.  A completely different approach to the same complication. Nice that you now have both these options and in different gold colors to cover all of your travel needs.  Congratulations, Joseph! Robert

Thank you very much for your kind words, Robert. After a slight mental readjustment, the dial really isn't all that busy and has quite a bit of information. I also love the fact that everything is controlled by the crown in the tradition of the mono-pusher. The dial is very well proportioned so its not really overwhlming. And it feels good on the wrist. Photos to follow. Best, Joseph
Nice touch with the map Joseph

The map background is very complimentary to your colorful WT.  Its clean and simple presentation of a rather technical function is highlighted by contrasting with the busy Lange.  Congratulations again yes
LOL Robert, 2 secs apart!

I see your point about WT watches in general being busy but featuring all the names is a real vintage cue whereas some other models that hide the time zones behind a dial cutout lack that romantic connection IMHO.
I agree completely, Dean
08/07/2013 - 19:13
It is the listing of all the city names, i.e. romantic destinations, that transforms the merely useful to the romantic and dream worthy.  I had not thought of this detail as a vintage cue, but you are, of course, correct about this.

Thanks, Dean. I do love the map theme and even have a nice collection of antique maps hanging on the wall. BTW the map is from the back of the jacket cover of: "Quest for Longitude" the illustrated edition, a really magnificent book. Regards, Joseph

WT I have seen so far. Using a map (also very beautiful) as the background captures the essence of this piece. I like the Lange timezone as well but not as much as the VC. Also it does not have my country on it. :-( Look forward to wrist shots.

You are too kind. Thank you for your very nice comments. I do enjoy the Lange as well although it's a bit like apples and oranges. Best, Joseph
Great photos, not too many at all!

Thanks Joseph - these are great watches. Now, I just need it in a white metal (shall we say platinum, and be done with it?!), and make the centre an enamel map, and hey pesto! VC might sell me one! G

Thanks Gary, I was hoping for a WG version as well, but it didn't look like it was going to happen. But the RG version is very beautiful. VC does have a great design team! Regards, Joseph

Superb choice, the Worldtime has a wonderful dial, both watch have superb finish and are really present on the wrist. It is hard to avoid Lange, what they did with the Lange 1, Datograph, or some smaller one 1815, Langematik is fantastic. I have a 1815 in white gold and was never disapointed with it. Enjoy it.

Many thanks, Yes, it's a great dial but has Geneva instead of Paris :-) You are right about Lange. I was never disappointed with any that I owned. Best wishes, Joseph
Joseph, I adore this watch

Congratulations....I have tried it on before and it is big but it works. Like others I am looking forward to a platinum version.

Many thanks Hamish. It does work even with my less-than-large wrist. It's an outstanding design and brilliantly executed. Regards, Joseph

Many thanks, Michael. I wasn't sure if the map background would work until I reviewed the photos. I surprised myself there. They turned out better that I had expected! All the best, Joseph
It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it!...

Joseph, I don't know where to start! Your presentation takes the biscuit! yes... Your choice of backcloth has seriously worked...so many Loungers are commenting as such. Now then, your razor-sharp shots leave me breathless. This quality of work doesn't 'fall in your lap' it's the result of sheer determination and effort. Sir, I take my hat off to you! As for the WT - it speaks for itself. My friend, you surround yourself with beautiful things and present them with much thought and respect. Sincerely, Tony

Tony, Thank you so much for all the kind words! I really do your thoughts to heart, and those of the other Loungers as well. It's very gratifying to share and to know that your efforts are appreciated. Thanks again, joseph
Congratulations, Joseph, on those two impressive timepieces.
08/09/2013 - 01:21
Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures and may these two watches somehow manage to find time on your wrist. I is quite a "watch-park" you have gathered along the way and your "watches" must be queuing in line to be "selected" by you. It's wonderful that you have taken so many pictures, and I have enjoyed a lot to look through them. The world timer has many beautiful details and you have managed to capture them superbly. It would be fun to have a picture of the movement in the Lange & Söhne watch.   Best wishes Kent
Re: Congratulations, Joseph, on those two impressive timepieces.

Many thanks, Kent for your generous words. Your own photos are quite impressive! I admit that I totally forgot to take any photos of the back of the Lange DT., an unforgiveable oversight which I will soon remedy. Even the photos I poted on the Lange group on the Purists did not inclue the movement. Thank you for pointing that out. I will do it this week end. All the best, Joseph
That's quite some photography! I'm sure both will give you
08/12/2013 - 11:57
a lot of good times even though I have a preference for the VC wink. I think the Lange 1 is such a prefect design that add or take away something that the balance can be off. Wear your watches in best of health and kee 'em coming yes

Many thanks, Alex, I also prefer the VC. It's such a brilliant design! It really illustrates all the talent at VC. Warm regards, Joseph

A bit late to the party

Dear Joseph, Echoing the other Loungers’ comments, I find your photos spectacular... You are getting better with age!wink I take time every day to enjoy the 2460 on my QdI, but I have to say that with the rotor on your WT its takes the movement to another level...  And small detail, but the hands are probably my favourite out of all of VC's current collection - I love the little triangle for the hours hand.  Enjoy your new baby!
