New York Dec so-so auction results: Antiquorum, Bonhams and Christie's

Over the week end the last auctions of the year were held in New York. Few high end or really rare Vacheron Constantin's were for sale. 3 models representing Vacheron Constantin at different stages did variously well.

The Mercator which is an absolutely outstanding watch did OK, the Chronographe Historique sees its price continue going up (granted slowly) and remains one of the Lenamia based chronos where you get the bang for your buck and the Jubilee 1755 is definately a great seller with prices at or over list!

I don't have a clue but it does seem that the really big pieces will

sell but all the others can have had at great prices.

I agree

I did get a few pieces at Antquorum and Christies, nothing very expensive, VC and non-VC at pretty decent prices. I noted that many pieces did not sell or sold at their lower end. Only very few exceeded their upper estimate, either because it was too low or it was a very desireable piece to more than one person. Joseph
They were not worth more.

Extremely unchallening auctions, I think, it seems they have run out of gas. $14.000 for a bathroom scale, is very well paid, especially these days. Of course we shall never discuss taste, but on the other hand, what else are that we are doing Doc
