New York for a New Addition!

I was in New York City this weekend to visit my daughter and of course the trip was an opportunity to visit with another Lounger, Michael Berlin.
We had a wonderful lunch at Marea on Central Park South... a beautiful venue with an excellent menu.
We placed our ordes, cleared the table and filled it with watches,
I received my new "baby" on this visit and you can see it in the photos along with a few others, including Michaels Patinum Retrograde.
I have to say that despite the beautiful photos Michael posted, they don't do justice to this remarkable watch. It is really a wondrous piece. Congrats again, Michael!
I will of course take some better pics of my new watch in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
And a big thanks to Bill Lind for making it all happen.
You missed a grat lunch!
Joseph

VC's. absolutely mind boggling. And I have always loved the VC WT. for them to design a piece based on 37 time zones is no small feat. I am from and live in a country which falls in a half-time zone and this is the only WT that has my country on it. Someday I might be able to obtain one. Enjoy it and wear it in good health.

Thank you for your kind comments. The WT is indeed a remarkable acheivement! I had been thinking about it since I first saw it at SIHH. And now...voila! Joseph
That is some table shot!

Not surprising, knowing who was at lunch.  Those are all really amazing pieces to see individually let alone together. The WT surprised me, Joseph.  That was not the one I was expecting.  But now it makes perfect sense to me for you to add this marvel to your collection. Perfect sense! Congratulations! Best regards, Robert PS - I lke Mike's new short haircut.  He looks great!

Many thanks, Robert, I'm sorry you couldn't have joined us. The WT was something I had wanted for some time. The opportunity arose and I took it. But i do have one other surprise (non VC) that goes along with the idea. But it will have to wait until I get some additional photos this week. Warm regards, Joseph

Fantastic Family Frolic

Man, that is some dessert laid out on the table heart and a great family representation for VC.  Congratulations on your beautiful WT Joseph yes.  The scale differences between the generations is also very interesting.

Thanks very much, Dean, There is indeed decades between the watches! But it also demonstrates a wide variety of designs that VC has created (not even mentioning the movements!) over the years. I didn't even realize how impressive the collection it was until after I took the photo (LOL) Best, Joseph
I really wish I could have joined you!

Congrats on the new World Time. Wear it in the best of health! Bill

What an unexpected addition, Joseph!

This beautiful WT comes as a surprise to me. I expected you to pick up the new 1972 regular version. I saw your sparkle in the eye when we were shown the piece at SIHH. Come to think of it it's still a bit early for deliveries... Anyway, a fantastic timepiece which will definitely come in handy for a seasoned globetrotter you certainly are. Many happy travels timed by your new marvel of a VC!

Thank you, Radek. Yes, I did look at that 1972 longingly, but when i found out that the dial was not guillochéed, I was a bit disappointed. It's still a stunning watch and one I may reconsider. But the WT was one that I knew in my heart that it was the one for me. Best, Joseph
The menu seems to be excellent :)

Thanks, François, The food was very good too :-) I certainly understand your feelings about the Saltarello, though. Regards, Joseph

real topper. Thanks for sharing the moment and the watches. Hopefully the white metal Worldtime will make it to SIHH soon and we can be brothers again--in watches of course, we are already there in spirit. Best to all, Tim

A spot of lunch at Marea...

Joseph, a lovely venue to meet a friend and be introduced to a new member of the family. Both photographed well! When time and circumstances permit I know you will post more photographs and details. That's something I shall look forward too. Warm regards Tony

Tony, thank you. I hope to take some more pics this week. There's a civic holiday in Toronto this weekend so I'll have a bit more time. Best wishes, Joseph
Now I wasn't expecting that!

Congratulations, looking forward to seeing them all in due course! G

Many thanks, Gary, I knowI've been a bit silent about the WT. There were a few others to consider...the grey platinum Patrimony Traditionelle, the Aronde, the 1972. But I kept coming back to the WT and I just couldn't resist! Best, Joseph
Congratulations Joseph
07/30/2013 - 01:55
WOW it looks like VC was the plat du jour..... I have a soft spot for platinum, I own two triple dates and I adore the WT so you can see that I for one enjoyed your post. Thanks

Many thanks, Hamish, Thank you for yourkind comments. The design of the WT is a real tribute to Vacheon staff; and more remarkable everything is controlled from the crown...a real tour de force! Joseph
You finally did it!!!

Always a good time when Joseph comes to town!
07/30/2013 - 15:51
Loved the opportunity to get a closer look at that beautiful WT and the RG Saltarello with that wonderful salmon dial (sorry that I did not bring my WG Saltarello for a side by side photo).  Most of all it is just great to spend time with someone as knowledgable as Joseph over a delicious lunch and a glass of good wine!
