This One Is For Respo

My Thanks to Alex  and his post on the beautiful shoes.  I was smitten.  A quick search found a pair for me in black in NYC.  The one's Alex posted were not availble here in the USA, but I have nothing like these, so I am very excited.   They are really well made and I was shocked that they were reasonably priced.  The fit was very comfortable.  I am always nervous finding shoes on line, as they can look great but fit terribly.

As for the watch: the question for Respo is WG or RG?

Best,

Joe

Nice photo!!! I want to see the shoes and THE watch, Joe.  You are killing me -- you know that, right?  Just killing me.  The Saltarello looks like it is just about to put on its special hourly performance. See you very soon. Robert

Dear Fellow Loungers, I totally agree with a thread on shoes! Here are my two of my favourite pleasures most days (in between feeding and burping Ashton)...handwinding my vintage 6272, and buffing my Jouvets to a super high gloss glacage shine....sadly not a Maltese Cross on the toecap, but elegant all the same! Look forward to more posts! Best regards JAMES
gorgeous Corthays James. Will try to post some watch/shoe scans

The Gaziano and Girlings are very nice...stunning colour! My favourite feature of the G&G is their famous bevelled sole!  Look forward to pics of those boots when they arrive!  What outfit will you match it with? Best regards JAMES

Any thoughts of a shoe club must be stamped out immediately!sad....what next? I blame Alex, he put his foot in it from day onecheeky....and this isn't even a step in the right direction!! The quicker this subject is polished-off, the better! Tony
Somebody needs to give Tony the boot.
01/16/2013 - 16:59
wink  Let's see how he feels when the shoe is on the other foot. Cheers, Tony. Robert
What a heel!

Some More Pics for our VC and Shoe Aficionados...
01/17/2013 - 10:54
Dear Fellow Loungers, Thanks to Joe and Alex, I am inspired to share with you some of my favourite VC and shoe combinations: Firstly, the elegant avant garde look - Corthay Jouvet in chocolate and gold patina matched with vintage 6272 in yellow gold: A side profile reveals the beauty and style that Pierre Corthay is renown for: Next, the classic look: John Lobb William in black calf with polished toecaps matched again with the 6272: The side profile shows off those nice double monk straps and buckles! Thirdly, a true vintage match made in heaven!  My antique (and totally wearable) 1960s Florsheim Imperial Full Brogue Budapester Derbys in No. 8 Horween Shell Cordovan (that is horse butt cheeks for those not so well-acquainted with shoe leathers) with the same period VC! Fourth, a sleek Italian interpretation of the one piece leather wholecut by Santoni Fatto a Mano in black calf with beautiful broguing detail... Fifth, a contemporary look matching Church Methyr full strap jodphur boots in black calf with my Overseas Dual Time: Finally the heirloom: a pair of booties with elastic sides in black leather and suede matched with a 50+ year old VC makes a wonderful legacy to pass onto my true pride and joy... Look forward to some of your favourite combos.... From one VC and shoe lover to another... Best regards JAMES

Thanks Maberlin! You know the old adage "they don't make them like they used to!" Vintage shoes have a solid craftmanship quality - and certainly built to last a lifetime! With best regards JAMES
