the one you sold and still kick yourself for it?

Following a.ler's post below on the one that got away, which watch did you sell and hate yourself for doing so?

For me without doubt its the original Mercator with enamel dial representing Europe, Asia and Africa which I had bought in the late 90s. I sold it on a whim to buy someting else and from the 1st second I regreted doing so and have never seen one for sale the one you sold and still kick yourself for it?

Here's a similar watch representing the Americas (couldn't find a scan of the model I had)

I can almost feel your pain. IMHO the Mercator is one of the most beautiful and original watches ever made. When you had it was it geting a lot of wrist time? BTW for which watch you sold the Mercator for?

I traded it in for a Blancpain repeater a watch which gave me

nothing but problems.

I really wanted a repeater and the BP was the only one I could find at an affordable price but the sound was terrible and it never functioned properly and I sold it soon after.

Ouch, a double black eye!! Sorry to hear about that (nt)

I often kick myself for selling vintage pieces because

they are so hard to find after!

The one I regret the most was in fact my first vintage VC. I had been longing for a RG watch for quite some time  and vintage was the only way to go. I had found a RG Vacheron from the 60s with automatic movement, screw case back an amazing silver sunburst pattern dial and some funky lugs that I have not seen since.

I sold it to a dealer to fund another purchase, stricken with regrets I went back to the dealer some time later and he told me he had already sold the watch to someone else. I asked him to contact his client to see if he would be interested in selling back to me but the answer was no

This is really an unique watch,

and her sister too (Europe/Africa/Asia).

It is a real shame to have sold it: I can really understand, and since I have one, I will try to follow your advice and keep it.
