OT Monday : "cheek to cheek" by armstrong/fitzgerald

this song has been ringing in the back of my head since listening over the radio early morning. it could just be my home-bound hoildays starting tomorrow, the recent acquistion of ref 6782 and my daughter's sweet behaviour.

this american swing jazz featuring angelic  voiced ella fitzgerald contrasted with husky and soulful louis armstrong's is especially suited for a happy moment.

Hi AAron, The song is by Irving Berlin and was featured in the Astaire/Rogers film Top Hat. Its a dance number, clever lyrics too. Rogers was wearing a dreass with lots of feathers and during the filming they would shed and get up astaire,s nose and into his mouth. Rogers would not change into another gown but despite the problems it is a great number. If you watch the scene closely, you'll see the feathers coming off her gown and floating around. The song is very famous and there are many recordings but I think the best is Astaire's from 1935. BTW, Ella and Louis did a lot of old standards together, one of the best is their version of Gershwins' "Lets Call the Whole Thing Off" How about a pic of you and Katie dancing cheek to cheek Joseph
