Overseas: Help needed

Dear fellow Loungers I need your inputs... Obviously, I would like to get the new Overseas but I can't afford that right now and I want a steel-bracelet VC now.  I am considering the following options and I would really like to hear what you think: Ref 47040 white dial:  Help needed  Pro: love the bracelet!!!Pro: beautiful dial!!!Pro: antimagnitism is a really cool feature!Con: my wife says the white dial makes it look girly but white highlights the pattern.. What do you think?Pro: the "original" 47040 dial colour? Ref 47040 black dial: Help needed  Pros: same as whitePro: black dial is more maskuline?Con: the pattern on the dial is harder to seeCon: not the "original" 47040 dial colour? Ref 42042 blue dial:  Help needed  Pro: the trend is that case diameters are declining.Pro: more descrete/understatedPro: the original overseasPro: almost half the price of the 47040.Con: not as cool as the 47040Con: I have read somewhere that the bracelet shaves the arm; any experiences in this area? Is this true? Your comments/inputs/opinions would be hugely appreciated! Best regardsDalgaard
I prefer the white because it shows off the dial a bit better

But I've learned, the wife is never wrong! wink

I have a first gen. OS, and while I love it...the bracelet on the Gen. 2 version is much nicer.  Besides possibly catching the hair on your wrist, the Gen. 1 bracelet can also "kink", mine does every once in awhile but is easy for me to unkink.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts!

I'll agree with Dan

Love the Gen 1, but the bracelet alone (in my opinion) makes the Gen 2 the choice, if the bracelet is the focus. I also agree on the white dial, because of the way VC have finished it. I love a dark dial, but these are so nicely done. I also happen to have a dual time version of the Gen 2 with that dial.I'll agree with Dan

personal choice would be the black dial as I don't like sports watches with white dials!

Special Sparkle of White Gold

It took me a while to realize that the OS1 had white gold hour markers instead of stainless steel ones. However, I've always noticed that my hour markers shimmied like water on diamonds and wrongly assumed that it was highly polished stainless steel.

I have a black dial and lots of fur on my wrist; so the bracelet does not shave your arm. The OS1 (and probably the whole OS line) is versatile and can be worn with white tie or jeans. Here's mine:

Hairy wrist with Overseas 1

I've saved for one of the new Overseas with the 5100 movement, but they don't have the white gold hour markers. Still dithering on whether to get OS 4500 with a brown dial, the Quai de l'Ile (cream dial) or something else and keep my OS1.

Bill,

Thank you very much for your inputs and reflections. I am very happy to hear that it does not shave the arm - regardless of my choice now, I want to have an OS1 in my collection one day - just because it is the original. Same goes for the 222 - I want one some day.

Love your point about the markers in white gold!

Nice wristshot an what a beatiful piece!

I will also start saving for the new OS but I fully understand your dilemma around QdL

Greetings Dalgaard and welcome,

I had the Chrono OS with a white dial but sold it and bought the USA edition with a black dial.

Better contrast with the metal bracelet.

Just my 2 cents

But UJ ref 8 or 1140 could be great option too wink

Dear friends

Thank you very much for all your inputs! It was very helpful!

Bill, your post really made a big difference!

So I finally made up my mind and went for something slightly different - an OS1 with nice white dial! I hereby share a couple of wrist shots and one where I had fun fitting this beautiful creation on top of the original Overseas line ad - Time set free!

Best regards

Dalgaard
