Pre-SIHH 2017: Traditionnelle Minute Repeater Tourbillon

A second SIHH 2017 new launch will be the Traditionnelle Minute Repeater Tourbillon in 44mm  pink gold or platinum with guilloché dials.

Housing Cal 2755 first introduced in 2007 this version does without the perpetual calendar mechanism but keeps the superbly finished tourbillon cage (almost one full month of hand finishing is necessary for the finish of the tourbillon cage and bridge) as well as the centrepeatal regulator that does without the background whirloing sound when the repeater is activated providing for superb chimes.

I like this one! Can't afford it, but like it!

I not big on the hole in the dial to show a tourbillon, even though it would be a shame to cover it up.

Therefore I can hope for an open-worked version sometime in the future?  That would be a modern,  iconic VC watch IMHO!

Cannot Get On Board with a Tourbillon: Of course I love it, thought!

While I could sit and stare at a tourbillon all day long (like Homer Simpson and a shiny object), I somehow just cannot get on board with the whole tourbillon "thing." There's the cost, of course, but more importantly is that tourbillons have not proven to be more accurate than a good mechanical movement. (Take the humble stainless steel Quai de l'Ile, for instantce--that new in house movement will keep up with any tourbillon.) If I ever felt that I absolutely had to have a tourbillon, I'd get a Sea-Gull for about $1k, and then go stare at it. (I'd tell any snobs that it was from the Ming Dynasty and worth a fortune...and while they were off on Wikipedia looking up the Ming Dynasty, I'd walk away.) Now the minute repeater...that's another story, and I'd love to have that even though I could probably never hear the chime. Go figure!

Bill, I do not think Tourbillons are added to increase accuracy. I think they

are created - especially by the likes of VC - as a testament of what is horologically possible and to show how difficult it is to create and regulate it.

I would love to see this piece in the flesh.

I have to agree with KK, the tourbillon is much more the demonstration of a

certain skill. Originally made for pocket watches that remained in the vertical position a tourbillon in a wristwatch in constant motion is extremely complicated to regulate. Furthermore, finish like the one on the VC is also extremely rare to come by.

Thanks for sharing Alex. Somehow, I still feel that the Traditionelle aesthetic

is best served by a plain dial, and not a guilloche. (Though the Traditionelle with guilloche has seen grown on me.)

Based on these photos, which are not high-res and not a substitute for live-photos and in-the-flesh experience, the off-centered element with the guilloche does not seem to go well - to my eyes so far. I think it will look nicer with a plain dial, and perhaps an open-worked would look awesome.

But the concept of Minute Repeater with Tourbillon is killer. Nice to see VC come such a long way in such a short time. I cannot imagine any brand that has the beauty, technical and traditional excellence and diversity of VC offerings

Absolute stunning!

Yesterday I've tried Lange 1815 tourbillon. But today definitely found new favorite )))

that's a great compliment!
