Precision / accuracy Overseas Chronograph

Dear lounge members,

I bought a used Overseas Chronograph 2003 (with certificate from an authorized jewlery store). Though I'm very happy about the watch design I realized a deviation of around 20sec/day.

May anybody tell me what the "normal" deviation should be and what an inspection could do good about this? Any idea about costs?

Thanks for your help.

Hi AUW, I'm not sure if the Chronograph is also COSC certified (which means the bare movement should be within -4/+6 seconds per day) but I know the basic/non-Chronograph version is. But with VC's own, high, internal, standards - I would expect the Overseas Chronograph and all it's watches to be at least within this type of accuracy range, indifferent to whether or not they are COSC certified. Unless something has happend in to your watch in the past, I would think an inspection, cleaning and full maintenace by a qualified person (I always take my VC's to either VC or Richemont directly) will bring your watch back to its originally designed and manufactured accuracy. Best Regards, Dan P.S. Congratulations on your watch selection and welcome to the Hour Lounge!
Congratulations on your new watch.

Since you have acquired a pre-owned timepiece, it is probably a good idea for you to have your watch serviced.  In all likelihood, it has never been serviced since it originally left the factory 5+ years ago and you probably cannot know what has happened with the watch over these years.  A servicing by VC/Richemont will ensure that your watch is running properly as they should test and regulate it, in addition to restoring the watch to a like-new condition.  They will be able to diagnose any problems that the watch might have and also rectify such issues. Good luck and enjoy your new watch. Cheers, Duncan
