I need to vent about this watch....

The looks are fantastic no discussion on  that but I still don't understand what gap it is supposed to fill. VC already has an automatic Patrimony Contemporaine with cal 2450 in a 40mm case so why the need to have an automatic which looks  exactly like the manual wind (no seconds hand) at 42mm? Don't get me wrong, I like watches with large diameters but I just can't understand the reason for offering almost 2 identical watches one with a 40mm case and the other at 42mm. It doesn't make sense to me

Agreed Alex; the design to showcase that beautiful 1120 caliber could/should have been less derivative, and going larger with the case size seems inconsistent with an ultra-slim movement, besides being unwearable for people like me.  First problem is solved if you wear it upside-down devil.  BTW, I must take back my earlier comments regarding the 1120 finishing as the production caliber and the added gold-highlighted lettering looks veeeeery nice.
Another point...

When this watch was previewed on other multi-brand websites, a frequent comment was negative reaction to the PT 950 lettering on the dial.  It was typicaly remarked that one who owns a VC of this caliber should know what they are wearing!
Looks fantastic, real subtle (nt)

.....
I'm a bit disappointed, to be honest...

I do like the style of the watch. In fact, I love it. I wasn't too sure about the 42mm until I saw the side-by-side pictures posted by Bill on ThePurists. I prefer the hands on this new version. However, I am still disappointed because for me this release is a bit of a lost opportunity. I love the Excellence Platine collection so much, and every year am looking forward to seeing a new model of VC's collection getting 'EPized'. For me, this is the 3rd incarnation of the Patrimony Contemporaine in the EP collection: there was the first one in 2006 (my favorite of the bunch), then the pocket watch version (at least, the format was completely different), and then this one. So why again a Patrimony Contemporaine? Instead, why not a Patrimony Tradionelle? Or an Overseas Chrono, Toledo, Chronometre Royal, 1921, Malte moonphase, Patrimony Chrono?... And re the price, it is what it is, but I find it very high at EUR40k, especially when comparing it to the retail price of the fist PC EP (wasn't it EUR25k?)   Venting done, I feel better nowsmiley Cheers, Francois
