I do like the style of the watch. In fact, I love it. I wasn't too sure about the 42mm until I saw the side-by-side pictures posted by Bill on ThePurists.
I prefer the hands on this new version.
However, I am still disappointed because for me this release is a bit of a lost opportunity. I love the Excellence Platine collection so much, and every year am looking forward to seeing a new model of VC's collection getting 'EPized'.
For me, this is the 3rd incarnation of the Patrimony Contemporaine in the EP collection: there was the first one in 2006 (my favorite of the bunch), then the pocket watch version (at least, the format was completely different), and then this one.
So why again a Patrimony Contemporaine? Instead, why not a Patrimony Tradionelle? Or an Overseas Chrono, Toledo, Chronometre Royal, 1921, Malte moonphase, Patrimony Chrono?...
And re the price, it is what it is, but I find it very high at EUR40k, especially when comparing it to the retail price of the fist PC EP (wasn't it EUR25k?)
Venting done, I feel better now
