QdI configuration/personalization set

Does anyone know when the QdI personalization sets will be delivered to Vacheron ADs around the world?
Do specific regions/markets have different delivery dates?

QdI configuration/personalization set

I just can't wait and plug in for my own individual QdI.

Maybe I will eventually come up with this configurationQdI configuration/personalization set

On a more serious note, do you think such a QdI personalization device could/should be incorporated and available on HL or VC's website as an online service?

the confiigurator and the QDIs will start being available in

Oct but not on all markets at the same time. I think the QDI will be globally available on all markets by early 2009.
How about an online QdI configurator, Alex? nt

Its planned! Will be on the VC website and you can play with the

different possibilities. Should be online by Oct-Nov.
Great news ;-))) Can't wait... nt

Superb choice! the Quai de l'Île is something totally new and interesting in the watch concept. The design and the mechanics are great, it is sport and chic and copy no one. I love it, and this configuration too. One of the most interesting watch to come. François
Hi Francois,

Thanks for your enthusiastic comment. This featured QdI combination is unfortunately unavailable at the moment. Some time ago I asked Fred to make a computer image of QdI Bi-Retro and that's what he came up with. So my choice is sort of a joke... The only two first available models are: Date only (my favorite at this point) Day, Date and Power Reserve There is a rumor going around a new complication QdI is in the preperation stage and should be ready for SIHH 2009... Anyway, I totally agree with you on QdI line: it represents innovative sports elegance in haute horologerie at its finest... nothing more to add.
sorry to bring bad news but...

no new QDI models will be introduced at SIHH 2009. VC wants the 1st two models to settle before launching new ones.
you know how to spoil my day, Alex...
09/20/2008 - 20:48
On the other hand, I guess I won't be disappointed at the SIHH presentation and will expect firewoks in other VC departments...
Hi Radek, it is probably also worth remembering...
09/20/2008 - 22:30
that this is a peculiar year for the Richemont brands as it is sort of a "short" year.  With SIHH coming in January 2009, the brands all worked on a different timetable of 9 months from April 2008. Some brands held product back this year to ensure that they would have sufficient new models to debut in January, while others wanted to make sure that their new offerings in 2008 had some time to mature and evolve in the marketplace before being overshadowed by new pieces in the same product line. I am confident that new and interesting models with other complications will emerge in the Quai de l'Ile product line in the years to come.  This gives you time to enjoy an automatic, date only model now and then consider "upgrading" in the next couple of years.  Cheers, Duncan
Right to the point, Duncan...

I really forgot about the shortened timetable for the manufactureres between SIHH 2008 and 2009... As Mr. Torres stated at the SIHH 2008 presentation Quai de l'Ile line will be enhanced with new complications and cases in the following years. All there is left to do is just sit and wait patiently for new developments in QdI product line. BTW, what complication would you like to see most in a QdI watch?
I would love to see a wandering hours à la Explorers and a chronograph
09/21/2008 - 11:42
a wandering hours à la Explorers is a great idea, especially with...
09/21/2008 - 14:15
the insight into the movement - it would make a spectacular watch and an object to behold! I am going to repeat myself: a world timer would be my dream QdI (I guess with all the printing techniques and movement view it would be a very modern and sophisticated watch)
A chrono or even a split-second would be nice and...

I can envision some interesting possibilities with a tourbillon in due course. It will be fun to see the evolution of the product line and the direction that VC has for it. Cheers, Duncan

Hoo the picture seemed so realistic, I was surprised of the complication on this model, but after al why not.  Only date in White Gold if it is possible is a terrific combination! I wish you will get it "soon" François
Yep, the image is almost perfect...
09/20/2008 - 20:56
Anyway, QdI is on top of my VC-to-buy list. I am in for an automatic with date. I am still hesitating between a titanium only or titanium/palladium version (which is not going to be available for a while since personalization will only be introduced on this model sometime down the road). I am also very tempted by a QdI HL special edition which according to Alex is a possibility in 2009...

I love the contrast Palladium Titan personnaly. What is really good in this watch is that it is sport without copying the "Genta Design" like Nautilus or Royal Oak. The Overseas who is not form him (contrary to 222) suffers a bit the comparison to these models imho. I like Gerald Genta design, it is not the question, but here, Vacheron Constantin has found a way to have a sport watch without being in that kind of design, and that is a true performance. In addition, the possibility of changing the watch is extraordinary. I admire your patience Radek François
isn't patience a true virtue, Francois ;-)

I do not quite agree with you on Overseas not standing a chance in comparison to Nautilus or ROO. There are several aspects where Overseas beats the competition i.e. water resistance 150m vs 120m/100m, anti-magnetic protection as well as design (I take it as plus that it is not the "Genta Design").  The tested and rugged (anti-shock) Piguet movement could be the only thing, IMO, pointed out as a drawback of OS - simply because it's not a VC in-house movement. On the contrary, I personally find it in favor of the watch: there is a reason why VC and many other manufacturers use this calibre in many of their watches
Unfortunately Francois, no WG at this time but...

palladium may be a very nice alternative for you if you prefer white metals.  Titanium, rose gold and palladium and combinations of these 3 materials are the present offerings. Cheers, Duncan
Where can I hide myself?

This "awful" forum doesn't allow to edit/correct message? I will stop writing too much and read more before posting Cheers François
No need to hide Francois...

as it is hard for anyone, especially myself, to keep track of all of the different product lines, models, case materials, strap and bracelet options, etc... Please keep contributing to the forum Francois,  as those contributions are what make any online/internet community good and special. Cheers, Duncan
