the QDIs have been doing surprisingly well at auction considering

That a regular production modern watch will habitaslly sell at around 40-50% off retzail at auction the discount on the QDIs seems rather low. This is even more surprising as the QDI doesn't seem to be a favorite among the Vacheronistas even here on the Lounge.
That could be because collectors figure it's going...

...to disappear and will therefore become a cult classic or because they reckon it will endure and early models will have additional value. For my own part, I almost love it - the case is beautifully sculpted and the movement of course is stunning. I think the dial needs more forceful features - more striking numerals and funkier hands for example. All that said, I'd love to own one and wholeheartedly support VC producing models like QdeI
I just "created" this watch on the tablet at an AD

and the retail price came to $39,560. The estimate seems reasonable to me. Bill
