We went to Vacheron Constantin's boutique in NYC today to look at the new Overseas and ended up being more surprised by what I liked than anything else. First of all I tried on the new Overseas--heavy but comfotable.
First, I tried on the OS 4500V with the bracelet--a substantial watch. Then, Amy Zhu (the employé de bureau who helped us) did the quick change to the leather strap with a deployant clasp--I passed on the rubber strap, but would probably use it on hot, muggy days.

The watch I tried on had white/silver face, and the one I want has a brown face (not at the boutique yet). However, it was quite comfortable and the face looked familiar. Luminous material is where the white gold material hour markers are on my OS1.
You can see the narrow neck where the band is attached to the lugs (bottom photo), and this did give me some concern, but there's a substantial metal piece with the attachment clip behind the band, and once in place, it is securely held in place.
The big surprise (to me) was the Quai de l'Ile. The face is a very light fine chocolate cream. It looks great and it too has a deployant clasp.

It looks great and feels good. I like the calendar a great deal. On the brown strap, I found it to be a simple, practical elegance that I like in a watch. This one has it in spades.
Both the OS and QDL have the c. 5100/1 automatic movement.
So that's the decision I'm making. Ponder, ponder....what to do?
