Hi folks. Seeking a little wisdom. This shop, which is pretty reputable in past experience, but not super VC knowledgeable, is listing a Stainless Steel QDI. But... the strap is black rubber. I was not aware of this variant and have not found any info on it. They don't mention another strap with it. I have emailed them asking for information. VCs website only shows the black dial QDI in SS with the brown leather, so I am confused what exactly this is. If anyone more knowledgeable than I is willing to take a look, I would appreciate your input.
The watch is pre-owned, so maybe they put it on a rubber strap from an older QDI model?
The original owner must have bought it on impulse and decided to sell pretty quickly.
If it has the original strap and papers as well, I will have some more confidence. They boast that it was "the first one in the US". Interesting.
On another forum, a QDI owner told me that VC stuck an extra strap (rubber) in the box. The Quai de l`Ile I looked at in the NYC boutique was shown with a gorgeous gater strap, and the employé de bureau didn't mention a second one. Of course I was looking at the new Overseas as well, and she may have forgotten that QDIs have an extra strap. (...or the guy on the other VC forum was full of beans...)
seller website as with forum guidelines we don't put liks to seller sites.
I uploaded the photo in your original post
I went to VC's website and it just listed the brown alligator strap, so I didn't think about it coming with two straps.
Is it the light or is the background color for the hour markers in brown? Looks good!
Under different lighting and reflections, the black can look grey and now even a brownish tone.
To the eye, in the store, it looked more black than this. I was surprised to see how brown it looked. I think you could accessorize it with black or brown (as indeed VC has done with the leather (brown) and rubber (black) straps.
I've been dithering on different choices from the new Overseas (original plan) to a Condition 0 1921 to the QDL--either with the group purchase or from the NYC VC store. The 1921 deal may take weeks, and involve a trade of my AP, but it would be nice if possible. However, the other two options are equally attractive. So....just wondering if there's any update on the subscription and/or group purchase for a THL QDL...
Now I've got to wait 8-weeks anyway; so while not one of my virtures, I'll pretend it is...
While they do have all of the parts, I think I will pass and wait to see what Alex and VC have up their sleeves for the 10th Anniversay Hour Lounge watch. Then, to see if I have a little watch budget at the right time. I think your suggestion was a good one - I would not buy if not "complete."
I didn't realize that the manual is now in a flash drive! What a great idea. Extra band and the Poinçon de Genève! They did not show me that at the NYC Boutique, but they have a great cup of coffee!
