A Quick Note from Madison Avenue Watch Week

As many of you may know, this is the first annual Madison Avenue Watch Week.  Just about every major brand has a boutique on or near Madison Avenue, making it one of the world's most concentrated markets of Haute Horology.

This morning I had the pleasure to attend a VC breakfast that included a discussion with renowned chef and VC collector, Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin and Hodinkee Editor in chief, Ben Clymer. The event was held in the offices of a private bank across the street from where the new VC Boutique will open later this year. It was a cordial event hosted by Hugues de Pins, President of VC North America, and various members of the VC HQ team, and attended by about 20 VC afficianados and members of the press. At Alex's request, I snapped a few photos:

A sign of things to come - the first VC Boutique in North America is set to open later this year.

Which was coaxed out of its case and on to the wrist of Karolin Falk, who will be part of the Boutique staff when it opens.

And there she is with Daniel Adams the fantastic VC Concierge for North America.

All in all, a nice opportunity to meet some of the VC North America team, hear from other enthusiasts and see the SIHH Novelties.  Unfortunately the Metiers d'Art did not make it to this event, but I was assured that they will be there for the opening of the new Boutique.  Hope to see many fellow loungers for that event!
looked like a fine event, what was the subject of the debate?

The discussion was around the similarities of haute horology and haute cuisine.  A bit of a stretch at times, but interesting and entertaining nonetheless.
Thanks for the report. Looks like a great group
