I have never seen one of these in the flesh, made in the late 30s, 34mm case. The Ref 31 is similar to another straight lug chrono ref 4072 from the 40s-50s but the latter has a bigger case (35mm). The Ref 31 also has thicker lugs and thinner bezzel.
There was also a version with teardrop lugs. The case was steel, and the lugs were gold. The "two tone" case styles are very rare, and extraordinary!
I must say the 'two-tone' case is amazing. I would love to see this style revived in current production models.
A very nice vintage piece indeed. I personally find those vintage pieces have characters and personalities as compared to the current collection of VC chronographs. Sorry if I have stepped on someone's toe but that is my humble opinion. If the Manufacturer were to re-introduce those pieces ..... hmmm
A blessed New Year to all!
...everything that I like from Vacheron , 30ies, steel and pink gold, chronograph and a nice "pulsometer" dial !
I agree that the pink gold and SS mixture should be re-used by VC.
Alex, thanks for that fantastic picture !
Happy new year to all of you !
although the lugs on it make me feel like I'm looking at a vintage Rolex. Still a great watch thanks for sharing some info with us.
and for sure a few left!
You add a pulsometric scale, with this two tone case, and the chronograph is a pure beauty.
