Recent acquisition

Here is one of my recent acquisitions. I haven't exactly been idle and over the last few months and have acquired a few interesting pieces. Two will have to await my trip to Geneva, but the other three, I have now.
The first of these is here.
I have always wanted a VC with a 1003 movement and through patience and searching I found one. It had a few bonus surprises as well. First it had a box and the original papers. You can see the imprint from the original croc strap in the inside of the box. That indicates, I believe that it was stored for quite a while. Unfortunately this strap is not on the watch but the original VC (old style) buckle is. I will replace the strap when I visit the Boutique. The watch does work quite well though.
In addition it is is absolutely pristine, like new condition.
The box also is a bit of a pleasant surprise, being one of the older styles with the reproduction of an old atelier on the lid.
The other bonus is that watch was a special limited edition for the 230th anniversary of Vacheron in 1985 (see last photo).
The movement also has a Geneva seal.
So through patience and good fortune I have another wonderful piece to add to my collection.
I've also added a few "artsy" pics Recent acquisition
Enjoy the photos.
Joseph

Congratulations, it reminds me of two watches I sold some years ago, one was a 31 mm the other one a 33 mm diameter: what is this one ? This was the 33 mm:

Thank you, Berny, THis one is 33mm. There were a number made with similar cases and dials and different movements as well. I had only seen one other like it in Japan, and missed that one. I found this one in Germany. Regards, Joseph
Really cool JB

Thank you, Its a really well designed movement, uncomplicated and quite thin. I think its still used today in one form or another. Regards, Joseph
Very Elegant...

I must say I really like these classic looking vintage pieces more than some of the modern VCs.  As stated in a previous thread, I'm more of a Dr. Jekyll than a Mr. Hyde. It's a great piece Joseph.  Looking forward to scans of your other new acquisitions after your return from Geneva. BR, Dan
first time I see that watch! Great that it came with all the

goodies, makes the ownership experience even more delightful.
do you know why VC watches are so expensive?
11/03/2008 - 11:02
because one guy works while the other 4 watch him  (picture below - joke was told to me from a watchmaker at VC )
LOL!!!! I had never thought about it, but it's so true!

I'm guessing this must be the aftersales/repair department...

and by the way ALex, this has to be the biggest picture ever posted on the HL

Then you should stop looking on your computer

may be it will decreased the HL VC...
Really nice grab JB!

I really like this classic look. Just based on the photos (exluding the last one), I would have never guessed that this one was produced in 1985 - I woudl have guessed that it is much older... Is 1985 now considered vintage, or is it too young still? The movement is also very nice 33mm is a little bit small for me however. Nice "artsy" shot BTW And looking forward to seeing the other new additions Cheers,  Francois

Thanks for all the kind words, mes amis! BTW, that was a very funny comment Alex , I hadn't thought about it either, but maybe its tradition. (LOL) That particular design has been around since the 1940's, I believe, so I guess the design is vintage even if the watch really isn't that old. Maybe its the wearer who is vintage! I'll try and take some pics of watch number 2 this week. Regards, Joseph
Bravo Joseph, may be some pics on your wirst just to see

Such a mint condition. I didn't know VC made this tear drop lug watch without second hand! You can be proud to integrate it in your collection. Cheers
Great find!
