with sadness I announce the passing away of Mr. Proellochs ex VC CEO

It is with a heavy heart that I annouonce the passing away of Mr Claude Daniel Proellochs on Saturday January 8th.

Mr. Proellochs was CEO of Vacheron Constantin from 1988-2005, he was the man behind the revival of complications at Vacheron Constantin in the early 90s and instrumental at the building of the Manufactory at Plan les Ouates in 2004 and led the brand to its 250th anniversary with brio.

On a personal note I had met Mr. Proellochs at numerous occasions, he was a man of immense culture at ease speaking of music, arts, philosophy, cars etc... some one always welcoming with a kind word.

May he rest in peace and condolences to his family.

A Wonderful Legacy

He seems so young!  In today's world of revolving-door leadership, just being more than 15 years at the helm is remarkable enough for any CEO, but doing so while reinvigorating the brand is a wonderful legacy.   While having never met the man, I personally owe him a great debt for introducing the first Overseas chronometer; a brave venture considering it sourced an unproven Girard Perregaux movement and had to measure up to the very successful 222.  I suspect the genesis of the project to manufacture the 1120 and 1003 also began under Mr. Proellochs watch, having started an in-house revolution with the cal. 1400. When asked in 2003 click here to see the post to explain a phenomenal 400% sales increase since 1989, Mr. Proellochs attributed success to the corporate characteristics of ethics, quality, reliability, creativity, and a personal dedication to customers.  Perhaps only reliability remains to be perfected, but those few words truthfully describe the company he helped shape and I suspect apply equally to the man. Maybe sometime we could share a more details of Mr. Proellochs biography?
here's an interview I did of Mr. Proellochs in 2002...
