Segue from form watches....

I bought this one about 3 weeks ago and the date didn't work. I had a local watch maker repair it and Voila got it back this weekend working perfectly.

Its yellow gold and what I noticed is that the yellow gold seems to have a softer color to it on the older watches than todays composition. It almost has a tinge of green gold (yes there is such a thing) in it.Segue from form watches....Segue from form watches....

Dear Mr L :-)

If there is just ONE "modern" vintage that I will get, this is it!

And in YG

Congrats from the bottom of my heart, but honestly, I am envy of you

I'm really happy that you share this fantastic beauty with us.

I'm out of words, because you saw perhaps I posted one, a time ago,

and my absolute belief is, that it is the watch which inspired the QdI.

And the Royal in it's turn, definitely has it roots in, yes I know I'm tedious, Art Deco!

Those lines that signs speed, wow !

You are a happy man

Wearit it with pride!

With Vacheron all the modern has some ties to the art deco...not a bad thing. Funny thing is when I first bought it I wasn't sure if I would like it but once on the wrist I didn't want to take it off.

Mr L

I always do that with a new watch,
04/30/2008 - 01:05

keep it on, and sleep with it on for the first night

Worked good so far

Congrats John for this marvel!
04/29/2008 - 23:43

Some time ago I saw a similar watch, automatic CR with those "batman" lugs, but with a diamond (or a kind of) just in the middle of the maltese cross.

Was this made on particular demand, or a special reference VC produced for a short time?

I saw only once, so I was surprised and didn't get any info on it!

Hi Anka,  Not sure if I ever saw one with diamond in the middle of the cross. Was all the script the same as mine? I could have been a special request?

Mr L

Patrice, are you referring to this one?

Beautiful piece and...
04/30/2008 - 02:25

interesting how the WG version has contrasting brushed sides and lugs while the YG versions I've seen so far do not.

Congratulations on the new addition

Despite the continuation in bold designs, it seems to me that VC has gotten a lot "tamer" when it comes to case designs.  Of course, one can argue that the QdI is another example of novel case design.  However, with the QdI, I feel that the case design was arrived at partly to accomodate the concept of mix-n-match materials, and not case design purely for the sake of form and aesthetics.  Actually, what I just wanted to say was "they don't make 'em like that anymore."

Wear it in good health, Mr. L!!

Best wishes

In absolute pristine condition! One of my all time favorite VCs! Love
