setting back the minute hand?

I have a Patrimony Contemporaine retrograde day and date.  The technician at my watch dealer told me that I should not move the minute hand in reverse as this will strip the calendar hand and it will not flip back in retrograde fashion at the end of the month.  Is this correct?
Thanks,
Camdoc
Hi and welcome. There is no problem in setting back the hands as long

the Cortina edition...
You know how to support your argument ;-)

Radek, since you own both an EP model and the Cortina, would be possible to have a side-by-side shot of the 2 dials? It is hard to tell from this lovely picture if the finishing on the Cortina is the same as on the EP, but with a different metal... Cheers,  Francois

Sorry, buddy the picture file is too large :-((( it just won't load up

Thanks Radek, this is really helpful. I'm probably one of the biggest fans of VC's EP collection, and I have always preferred the EP version to any other ones... except probably in the case of the Patrominy Contemporaine Retrograde.  While I prefer the color and finish of the platinum dial, the fact that the writing on the Cortina is white gives that piece an overall softer look, and as much as I like the blue hands on the EP version, having grey hands gives the Cortina a more "monochrome" look. I do prefer however the strap of the EP (the platinum and silk stiching looks awesome IMO!) So Radek, I'm with you on this one
Glad we're of the same opinion ;-) A couple of more scans...

platinum VCs.  I suspect that if the Quai de l'Ile came in platinum, then you might have another addition to your family.  Of course, palladium and platinum related.... Cheers, Duncan
Right to the point, Duncan! I am in the process of mixing Pd with Ti
