Shanghai Maison

Dear Fellow Loungers,

Just letting you know I am in Shanghai for the next six months working at the World Expo.

Please let me know if any of you will be coming over and we can catch up - perhaps at the Shanghai Maison?  There is currently a spectacular display of vintage jewelry watches, including a Kalla!

Look forward to meeting you soon, perhaps!

Best regards
JAMES

Hi Alex! Yes, who knows?  This is such a small world...I have already, out of sheer coincidence,  bumped into people (such as old schoolmates and acquaintances) who I never would have expected to see here! Best wishes JAMES
Hi James, lucky you indeed! I heard the fireworks have already

eclipsed the Olympics. I may be there for the closing, will let you know, have not seen the Maison yet--looking forward to that visit. Take care, Tim

Hi Tim, I was with 100,000 (or was it a million?) others along the hisotric Bund area on the Huangpu River hoping to see some spectacular explosions....but. unfortunately we were ALL on the wrong part of the waterfront....the fireworks were being launched about 2km down river closer to the Expo site itself, and not too high up...all we saw were a few bright flashes in between the skyscrapers and grey smoke wafting overhead...lots of booming though...how disappointing... But our long wait was not in vain....the finale was the Pearl Tower right opposite us - it exploded with several flashes and I managed to snap a pic or two...will post once I have them processed. Look forward to catching up with you in 6 months time for the Closing Ceremony....then, we will pick a more strategic location, such as on the 88th floor of the Grand Hyatt, or perhaps the rooftop of the Maison? Best wishes JAMES
