SIHH Contest: Sneak peek 3

The guesses on sneak peek 2 were pretty interesting, keep up the good work guys :-)

Don't forget: you need to guess the function of the watch AND the metier d'art (artwork) used. To help you out a bit you need to choose between the following metiers d'art (only one): enameling, engine turning or engraving.

 Good luck!

More intrigue, Alex.

The sub-dial wheels have window cut outs to display the relevant information (day, date etc.) thus eliminating the need for a pointer. Very clever! There must be a slightly translucent disk sitting on top of the subdials with the dials rotating underneath.

The metallic - looking thing in the centre which one could see (a fragment) in Sneek Peek to is puzzling, however. It looks quite crude. Perhaps its not part of the watch and only there to confuse.

Well, I'll stick with a perpetual calendar displaying skeletonized movement for now. I'll wager the movement itself is engraved, though.

"Curiouser and curiouser."

My guess would also be a  perpetual calendar displaying skeletonized movement but the date/month/year(?) sort are images in reverse of the system in the Retrograde Perpetual Calendar with Open Face.  I'm also going to guess that there is a (skeleton) tourbillon as well in this watch.  Finally, I think that the artwork is engraving.

I forgot to mention in my last post, Alex, that I agree with the individual who said the text on the crystal was a spiral. If you look closely at Sneek Peek2, you can see that the text moves inward, away from the periphery as it would in a spiral; rather than been a constant distance as one would see in concentric circles.

Looking closely at the lettering on the disks (sub-dials); they do look slightly raised indicating an enamelling process.

So we have, skeletonization, enamelling and engraving (probably), thus far.

Very cool place Alex, thanks

Engraving with day and date indications through "guichet" (i don't know the word in English).

Bonjour Mercator.

Le mot "guichet" veut dire "window" en anglais, comme a ticket window at a cinema. My French is not that fluent, but why guichet rather than fenetre?
