Sir Winston Churchill

Born 30th November 1847-the greatest Briton ever? I'll be celebrating his birthday today with a cigar and brandy!

Very respectful and enjoyable way to mark an important date. If you go for Brandy, and want to be true to Churchill's own favorite, go with Hine cognac. He also opted for Pol Roger Champagne and Johnnie Walker Red Label Scotch whiskey. Enjoy.
The toast is to Sir Winston!

Thank you for the timely reminder. I will be raising a glass (or two) to celebrate this very special day. Cheers!

I did not realize that he was 97 when WWII ended?

WC died January 24, 1965, at the age of ninety.  So he would have been 70 at the end of WWII.  I'm presently reading an enlightening book about the man titled, Churchill By His Contemporaries, which has numerous short essays by his political and military friends and foes.  Paints a very intimate and contrarian view of his personality rather than what we generally judge from his speeches.
