A small GTG with two other Loungers today :-)

I had the pleasure of getting together for lunch with a couple of Loungers today.  Besides the great conversation and food, we also had a few watches:

Wow...quite a collection. I love the FPJ and the KV. THE FPJ is an

entry level piece for them, yet what a movement. KV is divine offcourse.

Ive always been curious about the Vintage VC time only with seconds subdial. Can you share more info on this please? Doe the Traditionelle somewhat get its inspiration from this?

its a Chronometre Royale from the 1950s

It uses a cal 1007/BS.

I hope to have a GTG with you someday in Singapore or HK, smiley

Dan, look forward to meeting you at some point. :-)

I hop to have the honor of meeting you one day in person, perhaps at SIHH?  BR, Dan

Small GTG but great taste!

Congratulations to all participants, impeccable taste.

Thanks for sharing!

Regards,

roberto

It was very fun, and always TOO short. :-). (nt)

That really is a great collection
04/16/2015 - 13:05

I am sure the company was equally captivating.  I am amazed at Voutilainen's taste - absolutely impeccable.  He is like a perfect blend of what is great about classic Breguet and Vacheron somehow.  That skeletonized Breguet movement is wonderful as well.  And, of course, the VCs.  I am very jealous.  I hope you were showing off your recently returned beauty from 1914.  I am sure your company would have enjoyed the oppoturnity to see it.  I know I would have!

Dan's pocket watches are incredible

Respo and I were drooling the entire time. And the sound from his minute repeater was wonderful. It was regulated so well.  But at the end, before he put them away I re-looked close at the dials on two of them. The bluing of the hands is gorgeous.  A lucky man who chose so wisely!

it was a wonderful GTG

best

Thanks...come up North and see them for yourself! ;-). (nt)

I haven't given up on the Miami Boutique and champagne with you some day!

I would love to, and I could bing a piece or two of my own.

I actually get "up north" quite often.  PM me where the appropriate up north destination would work and we should set something up.  I actually get to NY, Toronto, Chicago and various other places with some regularity.

i wanted to add a couple of pix
04/16/2015 - 15:48

While Dan and Respo did most of the photo taking, I took a couple of Dan's pocket watches

first, notice the guilloche on the back of this one.  Unfortunately THL limited the resolution but if you expand the pix it should help  in person it is just wonderful

i wanted to add a couple of pix

also the dial of respo's beautiful CR

Such a beautiful finish. You would never know the age of this watch. To me it looks new

also the dial of respo's beautiful CR

Dan, please tell us more
04/16/2015 - 17:01

about the deck watch lower right.  Is that 6848?  Still waiting for a feature story on that beauty!

You are right about the 6848
04/17/2015 - 03:42

I haven't done much with the watch yet and it has not gone back to Geneva for restoration.

I've been working on, and just finished, getting a new brass container/cylinder made for it.  The original cap was cross-threaded, so not functional.

Did you manage
04/17/2015 - 15:36

To learn if there are any RN records for the watch?  Sorry I can't recall if we discussed earlier :-(

Sorry pal, not yet. :-(. (nt)

I am really sorry I couldn't make it, gentlemen.

What a wonderful collection!

I knew I would be kicking myself afterwards..."ouch..ouch crying

Next time.

But I have a few things to show, if i can only find the time to take a few pics.

I hope to see you guys in the near future.

Best wishes,

Joseph

i knew it might be difficult to come all the down for our GTG JB
04/17/2015 - 03:45

Especially if you weren't already in the area.  I expect, and look forward to, many more GTGs with you in the future!

thank you so much for the additional photos
04/17/2015 - 03:39

And more thanks for the great afternoon!
