Sneak peak at a last minute, purely serendipitous, acquisition

This was not on my radar, wish list, or on my mind whatsoever.  But I saw it and just had to pick it up.  I didn't even have a chance to check the serial numbers, but decided to buy it anyway.  (I'll find out soon enough, though).  Here is a sneak peek.

Sneak peak at a last minute, purely serendipitous, acquisition

It was this cal K1001/2 movement that I wanted,  it is (besides the cal 1003) the only vintage movement family that I don't have in my collection.

For those of you that don't know yet: my collection is based on vintage, (simple) time only,  VCs that use what I believe to be the best movements in VCs illustriuous history.  I've seen a few cal 1001/1002 movement based watches, but none with a Gyromax and original/non-refinished dial.  This one popped up and at a very reasonable price, so I just couldn't say no.

The dial and hands has been tarnished around the edges, but looks to be original.  I'll be sending it to VC right after SIHH.  It is WG and I'm sure the crystal will be replaced.

nice find! what is the size in mm?
Thanks Jason

The watch is 27mm x 27mm (not including the lugs or the crown).  It is definitely considered small by today's standards (always an issue for vintage watches), but I don't feel uncomfortable in wearing it at all.
That looks great on your wrist, Dan

Perfect! And how beautiful is that cal. 1001. I really like your collecting themes a lot. It has resulted in a very fine collection. Next time I see you, I really would like to see this new addition. You know I have a thing for square watches. ;-) Best, Robert
Thanks Robert...I'm very lucky that I have small wrists

Hip to be Square, Dan yes.  Thanks for sharing that gorgeous movement pic as well; Geneva Seal and Gyromax version - doesn't get any better smiley.
I actually have a "Master Recording" version of that vinyl album, :-0

And it is definitely a square world!  Do you think we've been influenced by the Historiques 1968? I know I found getting a non-round watch to be desirable. BR, Dan

So often, the best laid plans of mice and men...wink See you soon my friend!
Love those spontaneous acquisitions - congrats, Dan!

Why can't I ever seem to get my courage up and pull a trigger on a watch I adore spontaneously? Must have something to do with the fact the VCs I bought on impulse or without seeing them in the metal always ended up on someone else's wristsfrown
Thanks Radek! The spontaneous often represents what the heart wants
