I really hope so and even have a gut feeling that it may be

a possibility!

Is it a scoop Alex?

Let me tell you an interesting story...
04/23/2008 - 11:11

I contacted the VC bespoke department and asked them on a quote in having a chronograph made using the same case design but they never got back to me and each time I ask the question I never get a straight answer as to why!! This leads me to believe that they like the design and wouldn't mind making it their own (instead of a one off).

So let's wait and see...

that IS interesting info... (nt)

Hi Alex, It's interesting to see how both vc julibee will perform this time after quite a good success at various auctions during the past few years. Please keep us posted on the result. Cheers, Teetann

You read my mind :-)

It's a beauty, but for the moment being, it seems like I only pay taxes!

I console myself with this instead, also from 1937

As a notice, in the year 1937 Vacheron&Constantin made only 439 watches,

two of them are in this thread!

Cheers

Doc

Doc, Thats amazing, V&C only made 439 for the

entire year!!!! You are a our repository of history for Vacheron...amazing, thank you.You realllllly need to write the book on vacheron. You come out with information in such a casual manner that completely blows me away.

John

My friend,
04/23/2008 - 22:37

you make me blush

To me it's the most exciting part of the collecting,

to know what you are owning!

This back caused me trouble for days

The pic is focused on the hallmarks that made me think....

From above you barely see Vacheron&Constantin, under the Geneva Hallmark and the usual 750.

But then came the troubles.

It showed up that it was import hallmarks for London!

Not UK, England, Wales or Great Britain,

no, they used different for different cities

On import hallmarks!!

So the D means 1939 then 18/750 and followed by the special mark for London.

Under the case number from VC, and finally the key, which is another hallmark for Geneva.

To me the provenance of a watch, is of the utmost importance,

and searching for it is for me, more stimulating than buying it

Another thing most people don't know, is that the learning ability is the same,

for a 20 year young, as a 60 year old person!

Yes it's true

Cheers

Doc

Doc, you are a true inspiration...

to learn and discover VC for yourself.

You are also an ivaluable source of knowledge on VC. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Thanks Radek,

with all your youthful energy,

it's time you youngsters dig in to the books,

and make my jaw fall

Take care

Doc
