some scans of the unique Ref 4293 triple date minute repeater

Here's a reference I had never heard of and which appeared for the 1st time in public at auction last october in New York.

A triple date minute repeater ref 4293, the movement was made in 1943 but only cased in a rather large (for the time) 38mm rose gold case, and sold in 1957. According to Vacheron Constantin archives two models were to be made but only one actually left the ateliers.

It was sold by Christie's New York on Oct 17 for $457,000!

I was surprised at

watch and bid price

I dream of Ref3620 appearing for the auction.

How much is this bit price?

not familiar with the Ref 3620, what is it? (nt)

I discovered it in your scan before. As for this model, Ref4293 was similar, and only several were produced.

I don't understand it to materials.

Ref 3620 QP with minute-repeater

I look forward to your reply.

LOL I din't even know this one had a ref n°:-) This one and a split

seconds chrono (supposedly only 5 were made in the 20s-30s) were the 2 watches I was very disappointed in not seeing at the Quarter Millennium auction.

Bless me Father...

cause I know what I would do for this one!

Wow-Double Wow! Best, Miki

I would have liked to attend this auction

to look at this exceptional watch, and also have the pleasure to hear it.

I am curious to know its story through all this time...

supposedly the watch was with the family of the original owner all

this time!

VC makes the loveliest Triple Dates around...

Although I am not a big fan of minute repeaters, the watch is really beautiful, especially with the teardrop lugs.

As the date displays seem to be in Spanish(?), would this suggest that it was a special order for someone from a Spanish-speaking market?

At any rate, thanks for the pics, Alex.

Cheers

Kazumi

My God !

It wasn't long ago since you could buy that watch for 10% of that price !

I think this is a sign of the beginning,

of raising the values of vintage VC's to right level,

at least compare to PP.

Sounds nearly as my hero, Winston S. Churchill :

"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end.

But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

Beautiful watch of course, very beautiful indeed

Doc

Sorry,

I meant 50%, of course !

But it's still very handsome

Doc

You bougth it Alex?? ...

What a beast, failing to have it, I would dream to hear it ring

Do you have an idea of where could be the second VC Triple Date? (just by curiosity)

I bought the sale catalogue, does that count? The second model was

probably never made!
