Soon......

For three months I have been closing my practice.
Interviewed, I don't know how many doc's, to take over the practice,
but no one will do it.
Sorry for my patients, but it's a political decision and the doc's don't dare,
because the don't get any establishment, even if they they are very qualified.
The goverment only offers temporary posts !!!
That's why, we only have 10% private practitioneers in Sweden.
Most of these doc's are over 60 years old !
Still we take 40% of all patients in the open health care !!

So now this month I close down the practice and say good bye to the goverment.

On the other hand I'll long for coming back to you my dear friends Soon......

So see you soon

Enjoy life,
that's what I'll try to do Soon......

"Enjoy life" is my mantra...
10/16/2008 - 01:39
Sure, we all need to work and even deal with the government in various ways but life is filled with uncertainties and we should try to enjoy it while we can.  It is all about balance and it will be great that you can balance out the years of work and duty with some fun and enjoyment. We look forward to your returning presence and contributions Doc as you enter this new phase of your life. Cheers, Duncan
Thanks Duncan :-)

Doc
No regrets...
10/16/2008 - 01:48
Doc, I've been "offically" retired for two years now and am busier than ever!  Always best to retire while you still have health and wealth, so you can enjoy both!   I understand when you come from a career in public service that leaving people who depend on you must be hard.  But you can't be expected to carry the weight of other people's problems forever.
Nice to read tick-talk!
10/16/2008 - 14:19
Yes you are right, I'll forget the patients now and go forwards Doc
Are you planning on moving to the Bahamas or the French Riviera after?
10/16/2008 - 10:52

LOL !!

I have a nice two-people tent, so I guess I can go either place Doc

VC
Do you mean...
10/16/2008 - 12:50
That you'll have time for The Book ? Deniz
Do you mean THE BOOK ?
10/16/2008 - 14:31
Yes,  it's still my whish, if Dominique Bernaz, Alex and the heritage department would let me have a try First I'll pull everything together and then I'll start sketching the overall layout. Then I'll of course will be asking all of you 100 questions, but it's for all of us I'll write it and hopefully for collecting new customers and aficionados. The last is similar, because when you get your first Vacheron Constantin, you becomes an aficionado Cheers Doc

Doc, I noted some sadness in your initial email and in turn I think we all felt a little sad at the same time. But when you talked about "THE BOOK" there was much more positive energy in your response. It's has been sitting there waiting for you to retire, obviously it was meant to be and I know I speak for all the HL family when I say we know of no one better or more capable of doing it.

Great seeing your post again

THE BOOK of course
10/17/2008 - 13:04
Sorry, really sorry. Do you allways want to have differents pictures than front/back/left/right ????
New adventures
10/16/2008 - 16:22
It must not be easy to leave this part of your life behind and the people you have cared for for quite some time. Now a new adventure lays ahead of you and instead of patients, you will gain readers And I will be one of them if, or rather when THE BOOK comes out. I do not own a VC (not yet  ) but your book might be a very nice first step to the real thing. Enjoy! Natacha
By the way, Natacha
10/16/2008 - 23:03
I might have missed it in one of your earlier posts, but which one is your favorite VC? If I had to chose one for my wife, I think I would go for one of the Egerie models, but most of the ladies I have seen wearing a VC had a 1972 on... so just curious... Cheers,  Francois
Re: By the way, Natacha
10/17/2008 - 13:04
Hi François, I would probably go for a Patrimony Classique "petit modèle or gris" with a black leather band. I prefer simplicity and am not fan of diamonds on a watch (plus wearing a diamond watch on the Paris subway might not be very clever ) But my dream dream watch would be a made-to-order silvertone dial Mercator so that it could fit my wrist. Now that would be a challenge for the Vacheron Constantin team ! Of course this goes with winning the lottery. A nice lady vintage VC would probably do the trick as well Cheers
I like your style :-)
10/17/2008 - 13:50
I agree that too often these days lady timepieces are a bit too blingy... IMO Simplicity = classic and timeless beauty... You'd be surprised what good bargains one can get on vintage VCs... CHeers,  Francois
Thanks for the compliment :-)
10/19/2008 - 19:22
Well I sure hope to get one those bargains you are talking about one day. And I like the word "blingy"
I wish you my best (nt)

.
Good luck Doc...so does this mean retirement?
10/16/2008 - 19:01
This means you dedicate more time for the family and of course, VC!
Thanks all of you! I'm not dead yet :-)
10/16/2008 - 19:03
H-ll I'm just turning 60 in some weeks! So, hopefully I have some years left, still not senile, at least not what I understand I hope there will be time for my project, which I have been talking so much about and which I'm burning for It would be fantastic to get NEW Vacheron Constantin owners, like Tacha, to join us, that's a very important part of it  See you all Cheers Doc
Doc, may I know what is your project?
10/17/2008 - 04:09

To become an independent watchmaker or co-moderator of The Hour Lounge?   Regards Ling

LOL !!
10/17/2008 - 14:58
No, it's writing a book, with as many facts as possible about VC's. When, how many, ref. numbers, lots of pics, the history is quite well described until the 40's, but then there is about 50 - 60 years that are not especially well described etc etc Cheers Doc
Can't wait to have you back on a full time basis Doc...
10/16/2008 - 22:55
You are missed on the HL... Hopefully everything will be taken care of soon so that you can relax... and maybe join us for the London HL dinner? After, you can start working on your book Cheers,  Francois
London would have been fantastic,
10/17/2008 - 15:02
but it is impossible in my agenda. My wife is going to USA soon for a week or two, and I still have to finish the business that I written above. Hope for SIHH instead Cheers Doc
shame... but then you need to make sure you'll be there at SIHH! (nt)

I'm glad to see things are finally winding up and you'll have more time to persue other interests like VC watches. Nice to hear all is well with you (health-wise) which is of course most important. Best Regards, Joseph

Congratulations on the next, hopefully the most satisfying, part of your life. As long as you have your family, your health and your friends, all is good. Hopefully we're back to having you "chime-in" on us again. Personal best, Miki
Take benefit of life my friend!

And I hope we could meet together at the next SIHH in Geneva. All the best, matts Patrice
