The Sounds of Time Exhibition at the Maison VC in Geneva

As you may know Vacheron Constantin hosts a thematic exhibition of its historical pieces twice a year in its historical boutique on the Quai de l'Ile in Geneva.

Up until Jan 31 2014 will be held an exhibition on repeating watches

Among the forty or so models on display is an 1820 travel clock equipped with Grande and Petite Sonnerie mechanisms, a quarter repeater as well as an alarm
.
Other powerfully evocative models such as a1909 minute-counter pocket chronograph featuring alarm, day, date and moon phases that belonged to Sir Bhupindra Singh, Maharaja of de Patiala; or the Grande and Petite Sonnerie, quarter and half-quarter 30-minute counter pocket chronograph made in 1918 at the request of the famous American car manufacturer James Ward Packard.

Among the wrist watches on display is a 1957 minute repeater, complete calendar and moon-phase
The highlight of this exhibition, the “Tour de l’Ile” watch, comprises a mind-boggling 16 complications including a minute repeater complete with a display of its striking torque.

"Sounds" like a great and "ringing" exhibit. A lot to see and hear! Those are stunning watches. This is a real opportunity to see some magnificent pieces with the most interesting of complications. Will we be able to hear them as well? I'm glad to see it goes on til the end of January. Regards, Joseph
Wonderful!

Please, please include movement and cuvette photos!  It's like seeing a beautiful face in the crowd, struggling to get close and intimate, only to find the surging throngs of fellow celebrants blocking all access, forever keeping one at a distance from the object of desire... broken heart
these are press photos I'll go to the Maison and take live photos soon

We had our tour of the exhibit this morning, guided by the able and affable Jerome. Good thing there was glass between me and those beauties, or I would still be running. Of course, every piece was outstanding and rare, like an original brass-cased model, but I'm sure everyone will have their own favorites. Outside of those made from "unobtanium", I fell in love/lust with a 50s pocket min rep with the most austerely beautiful champleve dial with raised Breguet numerals on a creamy translucent ground. Sorry but pics will have to await our return home in two days. Best to all,
