A Stolen Watch Returns ?? Advice Needed .

Dear Forum Members,

My experience with watches is limited to having owned/inherited a 4240 pink gold, triple date 2 tone roman numerals watch .

It was stolen from me by a watch repairer who was supposed to just clean it and adjust the winding .

Following a successful prosecution he was sentenced to prison and to get off the hook he has offered to return my watch to the court .

Outwardly it is my watch but from the inside who knows .  I have no receipts or serial numbers , it was bought in Lausanne or Geneve .

I would appreciate being told what steps and internal verifications should be undertaken and where before I can be confident to officially accept it as authentic and take it back .

Many thanks,

Serge .

The only thing I can tell you is have it sent to VC for verification

yep. send it to VC.

They can verify that this is the genuine watch, that no parts of the movement have been altered, changed, exchanged, abused, broken, etc...

BUT: make the bastard pay for it, and for the service by VC as well since the bastard's competence is obviously in question and his touching your watch might have made it worthless if he exchanged parts of the movement or damaged them.

Do not accept anything less than a full service by VC (they will replace/repair parts that need to be fixed and they will be thorough) and a certificate of authenticity.

Right on Nico!
