Strap Choice Made

I received some great advice on a suitable strap for the 4178 chronograph in steel and pink gold.  After looking at the piece for a few days, it appeared that the dominant characteristic was the champagne gold dial so I picked a strap which complimented that feature, with a pink gold generic buckle.  Nice thing about straps...they can be easily replaced.  Comments?

since you ask...

I find the strap too light. Love the watch though
I would suggest a chocolate brown strap!

I say the same as Alex!

DARK brown, This strap I got as a present from Alex once It's beautiful, and here is another DARK brown strap, perhaps even a bit darker. On the other hand to steel/WG watch, black is perhaps the most elegant! Once again a GP !! And for comparisition Hope it could be some help Doc
I'm not convinced myself that it's the right color!

Thanks for your input.  I will dig through the strap box and try a dark brown one.  Pics to follow. It was easier to choose the watch than the strap
Keep in mind the Vacheron Concierge for a new one! [nt]

Hi Dean, I think a darker strap, dark brown, would make a great contrast with the dial drawing one's eyes to the "point of light" of the dial. The light strap has roughly the same intensity (colour luminance?) as the dial. IMHO, contrast is better. Regards, Joseph
Very well put, Joseph - agree 100% nt

I agree with all....

a dark brown/chocolate brown strap would be a better combination for that dial.  Love the watch! Best, Tom
My choice would be a black strap with some sheen to it. It would

really set off that beautiful piece. Best, Tim
Here is a dark brown strap....

Very nice choice, much better over all. The watch really stands out now. Wear it in good health! Joseph
much better but...

you need large scale croc
Agree with Alex
12/12/2008 - 11:55
You need a bigger crocodile
Re: Agree with Alex

I believe the correct term would be "large tile". Miki
OK but you have to help catch it....
12/13/2008 - 04:53
Well yours might be easier than this one...

Nice choice

The dark brown strap is a huge improvement.  Amazing how a strap can really change the character of a watch.  Hope to see more photos soon. Best regards, Dino
This is better!

I think the watch looks fabulous with either strap. I do agree that the dark strap is more dramatic but I would be happy to wear the lighter strap as well. Wear it in the best of health. Mike S.
A better combo Dean.

And what about a black strap; it's classic but smart, and could fit quite well with your watch.

Here is a black strap, burgundy, dark brown with contrast stitching and the unpopular tan strap.   The burgundy is from a red gold Vacheron piece but looks not too bad with these colors !?!?!?!

The grain on the black one (or the orange one) is what looks best (IMHO). If you could find it in a dark brown that would be perfect. But you know the black one looks superb! Best, Joseph

I happen to prefer the black one. For a more sporty look the dark brown with white stitching is also appealing. Wear them and see what makes you the happiest. Have fun!  Regards, Matt
the burgundy because it tappers whereas the others look to wide (nt)

Yes a vintage 14mm taper suits best. nt
