A stunning PW with minature enamel by Leclerc: The Lovers

In my search for pocket watches with miniature enamel paintings on the back I stumbeled onto this surprising piece called Les Amoureux (The Lovers) by Marthe Leclerc (a student of Polutzzi) and ispired by Fragonard from 1947

Once again, like with the Deer Hunt (here) I can only be mesmerized by the talent of the artist and the stunning shades and hues

The subtleties and blending of colours is remarkable. It's such a difficult medium in which to work and this example is stunning. Now if someone would only do a Monet although I have to admit those Chagall dials were pretty amazing. Regards, Joseph
I would love to see VC present an enamel dial but not with a

reproduction of a well known painting of the past but rather an original creation by a modern artist and if from street art even better!
Brilliant concept Alex

I don't think you'd even get odds in Vegas for that happening though wink
Not sure if you saw this PP Clock by John "Crash" Matos

It was auctioned by Antiquorum in December - painted not enameled, but he is a true street artist.http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalog.html?action=load&lotid=228&auctionid=268
fascinating, thanks :-)

I think that one would wrap around from the back to the dial. Alex. It sure would be a conversation starter, though! ... Person: "That's an interesting watch" Alex: " Yes a custom order, too" Person: Oh, too bad...it looks like somedropped icky blue stuff on it!" Alex, "Oh, that...no it's just graffitti"surprise Joseph
Joseph, I have a contact that could do wallpaper to match...

Alex, The excellent photographs have captured this fine work frame by frame. One is almost speechless! Isn't it true; life is full of surprises and this is one of themheart... Your thought of having a touch of street art on an enamel dial takes everything up a notch - nodoubt food for thought. I make no apology for returning to this article at regular intervals. Each time a new dynamic emerges....long may it continueyes. Best wishes Tony

Don't agree much with the street art concept, though. I like the classics, the Spanish genius Velazquez, for example. Titian too. For a cool enamel representation, I would like Picasso or Matisse, concepts that are everlasting, yet classical!
