Stupid question due to my clumsiness

I was changing the watch strap on my 31-Day Retrograde watch (from the original black to a burgundy one) when I accidently broke off the very small tip to one of the springbars.

Is there anything special about a VC springbar that I should know about that would make sense for me to go into New York City and pick up an original from a VC dealer?  Or can I go to my local jewelry store and pick up a replacement springbar?  She believes the springbar is made from 18K rose gold to match the rest of the watch, but I don't believe gold would be very good  for springbars.

My wife is very upset with me because I broke the original springbar and thinks I have reduced the watch's overall value.  She does not believe me when I say it is a small issue.  But she will only believe what the much more experienced members of the Hour Lounge have to say.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Best Regards, Dan

is it the springbar holding the strap to the watch or the spring bar

in the buckle?

If its the buckle, no problem its in steel, however if its the springbar attaching the strap to the case its a gold one and it would be preferable you get one from your dealer.

cheers

Alex

Hello Alex,

Thank you for the quick feedback.  It is the gold springbar attaching the strap to the watch.  I will get a replacement one from VC.

It looks like my wife was right...again.

Would you know if these springbars are stock items that I can walk in a purchase, or would it need to be ordered?

BR, Dan

I don't know depends on what your AD has in stock. By the way did

Hi Alex.

Yes I did, thanks.  I just arrived in the U.S. yesterday and saw it - the scent is quite nice.  I only have a low resolution camera phone accessible right now, so I haven't taken any pictures.

I will check with my local dealer on the springbar.

Would not be difficult to get one.

Otherwise I think like Alex, just by one in steel, it doesn't show anyhow.

I have that on several YG and RG VC's !

Has nothing to do with the value of the watch.

To me it would matter only if it was a gold bracelet !

This one has/had steel bars from it was new!

I got a steel sprinbar this evening so I can wear the watch.

But I'll still get an original springbar from VC at my leisure for "state of mind" as my wife will feel more comfortable that it is "whole" again (she is the one who gave me the watch as a present, so I'll give her feelings significant consideration on this topic).
