Survey: which are your all-time best and worst VC models?

I am not sure if this has been done previously or not, but I have been wondering recently if there is a consensus amongst Loungers as to which are the best models ever produced by Vacheron, as well as the ones that VC might have been better off not releasing. I think it might be fun to see what are the top 3 watches and the worst for each of us, irrespective of price. Allocating 3 points to 1st choice, 2 points to 2nd and 1 point to 3rd, we should be able to see if there is a Loungers favourite or not.

Personally, I could have said that my all-time top 3 VC would be the 47212, 47112 (YG) and 47112 (PT), but that would be a little bit boring. So I’ll say my choices are:

Top 3 VCs:
1) Malte Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Excellence Platine (47212) Survey: which are your all-time best and worst VC models?Survey: which are your all-time best and worst VC models?Survey: which are your all-time best and worst VC models?
2) Malte Tourbillon Regulateur Excellence Platine (don’t know what the ref number isSurvey: which are your all-time best and worst VC models?)
3) St Gervais Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon (don’t know what the ref number isSurvey: which are your all-time best and worst VC models?)

Worst VC: Metiers d’Arts Four Seasons 2005 (I do like the way the time is displayed, but the central sculpture and the enamel do nothing for me…) Survey: which are your all-time best and worst VC models?

I don't know if these are the best but they are my favorites and if

funds were not an issue this is what I would put my hard earned cash on. But I'm going to cheat and give my 3 favorites per era: current, past, vintage

Very tought because there are so many I would like to choose but here goes:

1) Les Masques

2) Hommage aux Grands Explorateurs

3) Caliber 2755

Runner ups would be the Malte perpetual calendar chronographe Excellence Platine and the Malte  retrograde perpetual calendar made for the VC Boutique in Moscow, the Malte tourbillon and the Patrimony bi-retrograde Day/Date

Past Models

1) Mercator

2) Jubilé 1755

3) Perpetual calendar minute repeater

I'm a huge fan of vintage VCs and for me that made the most gorgeous chronographs so my 3 choices would be these

1) Ref 4178

2) Ref 6087

3) ref 321

There are quite a lot of VCs I don't like especially certain from the mid 90s to early 2000 but knowing that no matter which watch I name a Lounger or a lurker will own one so I rather keep my mouth shut . However there is one watch which I really liked and even owned for quite sometime but ended up selling because of its movement. The Medicus chronograph with a non column wheel chronograph movement (its unbelievable that VC actually sold a watch with such a movement!!)

actually, you reminded me that of a model that should have been...
10/26/2007 - 16:44 my top 3: the Perpetual Calendar Retrograde (model in Platinum). I don't know how I could have forgotten about this one! So I'm changing my 3rd choice with this one, if it's OK...

the full dial or opendial model?
10/26/2007 - 17:03

full dial, without a doubt!!! :-) (nt)
10/26/2007 - 17:05

I can't believe you actually sold the Medicus...
10/29/2007 - 00:24

This model is rare and sought after on the second hand market.

I really like the shape and deisign of the Medicus.

I kind of get a drift you regret selling that one, Alex...

As rare and gorgeous as it is I just couldn't get used to its non

column wheel chrono movement.

my pick
10/26/2007 - 17:58

my top 3 today would be

1) Malte Chrono platinum

2) Malte Tourbillon black

3) Patrimony retrograde Cortina

I really don't like the Royal Eagle day/date model and most of the Historique models from the 90s: they were rather uninteresting copies of amazing watches (the chrono Historique being an exception)

10/26/2007 - 20:09

Top 3 - Design

1) Métiers d'Art - Spoutnik

2) Perpetual Calendar (skeleton)

3) Malte Tourbillon ^^

Top 3 - Global

it's too hard!!!

1) Métiers d'Art - Spoutnik

2) Patrimony Contemporaine By Retrograde - the for Cortina if possible

I will distinguish my favourites within 3 parts

1°)Métiers d'Art

- Spoutnik

- Congo Mask

2°) Recent

- Perpetual chronograph in PT (Excellence Platine)

- Chrono Les Historiques

- Patrimony day/date Cortina

3°) Vintage

- Chronograph ref 4178 (fan lugs, as stated by Alex), in steel or pink

- Minute repeater, dress watch

- Chronomètre Royal, sub seconds if possible

Worst range: Royal Eagle

Interesting survey.

For me,

The best 3 (impossible to limit them really):

1) Hommage Aux Grands Explorateurs

2) Traditionelle skeleton perpetual calendar

3) Jubile 1755

I also like the Mercator, Saltarello, Malte Chrono Excellence Platine, and the Patrimony Contemporaine line.

I am not too fond of the Royal Eagle line, but that's just my personal taste.
